I hope this is wrong.

What do you think his value if he doesn't want to be part of a rebuild?
Could we get a good center? a 2014 pick?

What teams could use a point guard?

Here are some guesses
To Atlanta: For a a pick, a TPE and them taking Wallace off our hands.  OR a sign and trade for Jeff Teague?
To Dallas: For the same package as Atlanta
To Detroit: would they give us Monroe or Drummond? or Knight a pick and take back Wallace's salary
To Milwaukee: Sign and trade for Jennings or Ellis (which I personally hate but it might end up being better value than we will get. Would they move Larry Sanders or Henson for him? We really could use a rim protector
To Sacramento for a Cousins and Sign & traded Tyreke for Rondo? Would they do that for a player that is hurt?

However none of those teams are contenders? If Rondo is leaving a rebuilding team isn't it assumed he wants to go to a playoff team? What playoff team has a need of an upgrade at point guard?
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Dollars to donuts that this is a non-Celtics source feeding Stein based on conjecture.

Danny just called Rondo untouchable and said he wanted to rebuild around him a la Pierce in 2007.

We can all laugh and remember trader Danny, but I'm more inclined to esteem his recent quotes than Stein at this point.

Or maybe he's just trying to avoid being low-balled? Ainge has consistently defended the C's 'love' for Rondo while attempting to find a good deal for him. To say Ainge spins his commentary in the press would be an understatement.

Can't say I'm too surprised but this whole strip down is making me sick to my stomach and Rondo is a guy that I want to keep around,
This is the part I just don't get about the NBA.  What do you tell the people who buy the tickets?  3 years of crappy non-entertaining basketball lie ahead but give us your money anyway and be patient?

You pull a page out of the Obama playbook and sell them on hope.

Lower ticket sales will hurt this season, but if they get a guy who they can market as the next Paul Pierce next season, that could translate into 10+ years of nice sales.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Yesterday morning he didn't see any deals coming.  The dude knows his GM'ing.

I just realized that through all of this chaos, I was still planning to go to a lot of Celtics games next year to see Rondo.

Without Rondo, I think I've got to save up my money. =(

i would trade Rondo but only if we can get something really good in return. Trading Rondo just to gather assets wouldn't make much sense to me. Rondo is the caliber of player you'd spend these "assets" on.

It would make sense if you don't really love Rondo and want to go full in on tanking for next years draft.

Not saying that's how I feel.  I love Rondo.  I'm torn up right now about all this.

if you want to go on "full tank mode", i think you can still accomplish it and keep Rondo by having him come back late in the season, or on limited minutes, or just have very questionable substitution patterns. If he gets a minor injury, the team could take precaution and shut him down. i do recognize the concern about him negatively impacting the culture by his moodiness though.

Definitely fair points.

It all depends on what you could get.  If the 2014 draft is really that legit, and you could get a pick or something in there, who knows?

I really am trying to be prepared for anything to happen right now.

I don't see how Danny isn't doing everything he can to work out a Sac trade for DMC/Tyreke. We now have tons of picks and young players that Sac would be very happy to have and both players are getting to the point where they need to be signed to pretty substantial contracts.

I am not saying this is necessarily the absolute best scenario, but it would certainly make sense and would make our team a bit younger.

And if Sac isn't interested in Rondo, other teams are and I am sure a three-way ;) could be worked out.

I really really hope that Rondo is not traded. He is the one person remaining who I see as the face of the new era.

Maybe just teams stirring the pot a little to see if the Celtics bite.

IIRC, Wyc was on the record saying that Rondo is untouchable. So did Ainge. In his previous interview he was unsure as to what to do with KG and PP. But he was firm on Rondo.

At this point if we are going to suck anyways why not have two malcontents as opposed to one

Don't forget that 48 hours ago Danny said that there were no big deals imminent and he couldn't really see that changing. Lol.

Rondo, Humphries

for

Gordon, Thomas, Portland 1st (top 12 prot. next year), Detroit 1st (top 8 protected next year)

Boston may need to toss in a little more value (i.e. future 1st, Bradley, sullinger, or etc.), but I think that is a reasonable trade at this point for both teams.

It would have to become a part of the Brooklyn trade so Humphries could be traded with someone else.

This is the Cats? Not sure about these terms -- no way the Cs take Thomas when giving back Rondo, for example -- but I'll continue to state as I have that they make a ton of sense as a Rondo trade partner.

Ainge just fleeced one awful GM / organization. Finish the job with another.

This is a horrible trade. Rondo is not Pierce or Garnett.
