One proposed solution in Celtics-Clippers talks, sources say: If Clips take back Courtney Lee or Jason Terry, Boston would relent on Bledsoe
Please don't give up Courtney Lee. Happily get rid of Terry though.

Why?

He is the definition of a complimentary player (and didn't even play very well last year).

We need to free up space and money and tradable assets need to be gathered.  He is not a help.

Because I believe Courtney Lee (and his contract) are easy to move in another deal.

But Jason Terry (or Bass) are not.
Lee's contract is the worst of the lot. Plus, instead of building on what I thought to be a solid foundation from the season before, he has actually regressed.

One thing I'm pretty confident of in Clips-Cs mess: Vinny Del Negro is not going to be Boston's next head coach.

i love how danny screwed this up last summer by signing all this garbage, now he's the idiot trying to rid himself of it.  what a horrible day to be a celtics fan.

i can't wait to watch the idiots with deandre jerseys.
Yes, and we may be one Rondo knee injury away from everyone singing praises about how masterfully he reloaded in motion.

TP!  Exactly!  Just like we are a Perkins knee injury away from back-to-backs.

That's my whole problem with someone not looking down nicely at the C's.  Health has always been an issue with this team, whereas some of the others, not so much (i.e., Jordan's Bulls).

Celtics fans will be buying a jersey with TANK on the back real soon...your long wait for the good ole days to return is almost realized...rejoice!

For the actual real fans that watch competitive basketball...this hurts. Jordan might be the worst free throw shooting center since Shaq.
Andris Biedrins called. He's concerned about stripping him from his well-earned title.

i hope terry is sent out...

but that means the clippers would have crawford and terry on the bench...not sure you can keep them both..basically the same guy

i prefer to keep lee...i think the way he was handled last year destroyed his confidence

I actually think Lee's contract is the best of the (3).  To me he is the youngest, fits with a re-build the best if you decide to keep him.  He is the easiest to package in a trade to other teams.  He just had a bad year last year, and for whatever reason got in Doc's doghouse and never played himself out of it.  He is a decently talented player.  If he could get his shooting touch back I wouldn't mind keeping him.

Bass is overpaid for what he is, but he has played really well down the stretch the last couple of years.

Terry never really got into a groove here.  Not sure if that is because he is cooked as a player, or we didn't use him right.  Either way, he would be a better fit with the clippers as a scoring 7th/8th man.

Because I believe Courtney Lee (and his contract) are easy to move in another deal.

But Jason Terry (or Bass) are not.

I think Terry and Bass won't be that hard to move at the trade deadline or next off-season.  I don't see a reason why you need to trade them now rather than later.  Terry may be more difficult because of potential decline due to age, but I think Bass has value.  A team like the Nets should want Bass.  Pretty much any playoff team that lacks perimeter shooting and doesn't have an All-Star locking down most minutes at the 4 could use Bass off the bench.

I don't think Lee's contract is worse. It is a year longer. Not necessarily worse though. I think several teams would be happy to pay Lee that money. I don't think Boston will have any problems moving that contract.

Just like I think several teams would be more than happy to pay Bass $4-5 million a year (fair compensation for Bass' talent, like C-Lee's contract is fair) but unfortunately his contract is up at $7 million per annum and I think that really hurts his trade-ability.

Jason Terry just looks old. Too old. I think it'll be hard to find a team willing to take a chance on two years $10 million.

you think this team was only rondo away from the title?  did you watch them before he got hurt?

ainge screwed up last summer.  if he wanted to make the type of changes he is trying to make right now there was no better time than last summer when he didnt have all these bad contracts.   he did this to himself because he didn't have the balls to do it preemptively last year.  his performance has been terrible since the title.  i'm shocked at how he is getting defended as this thing seems to be coming to fruition.

That's some good news. Sure does take away some of the edge.

This is just me, but having DeAndre Jordan along with future picks, can that be moved to acquire, say, DMC?

Yea, Lee>Terry. Pretty easy

Would much rather dump Terry and even Bass if possible.

i'd rather keep Lee actually. i think he can be really serviceable if given a proper role with steady, predictable minutes. if we can't get Bledsoe, then picks and financial flexibility is a good consolation. i just hope DA knows what to do with the "financial flexibility"!
