If we trade KG and Pierce for DeAndre JOrdan, we should immediately flip Jordan to a team with cap space for a draft pick... then package Rondo and some of our bad contracts for a high pick and expirings.  Probably find a taker for Jeff Green as well.  Then hire Del Negro so we can win 15 games and lock up a top 5 pick in a loaded draft.  Good foundation for a rebuild. Tons of cap space and tons of young players... if we play our cards right, in 2020 we'll be a contender again.  Towards the tail end of LeBron's reign of terror on the league, but Durant will still be in his prime.

That's just how boldly Danny needs to be thinking.

So instead of having Rondo sit out you trade him for a draft pick that you hope is as good as Rondo? Sounds awesome! SMH

That depends.  If we could package Rondo with some bad contracts and take back someone like Nerlens Noel, cap space and expirings... I'd probably go for it.

I'd just load this team with youth and cap space.  Go the Houston Rockets route.

Even if you think this deal is crap, you have to agree -- the biggest disaster at this point would be if the two sides walk away permanently.

Then the Celtics are basically left fumbling for some other option.

No way Doc Rivers comes back to coach this team, or that KG and Pierce are back next season.

This deal is now the best chance the Celtics have of getting anything in return for these guys.  If it falls apart, we could see everybody go their separate ways, leaving the Celtics holding nothing but what they have right now (which is to say, a lot of junk).

i don't see it that way at all.  rivers will decide to not coach.  kg and pierce will probably play.   it will be a team that won't do much,  but it will still sell tickets and give kg and pierce a retirement season where they play themselves into the sunset and/or maybe get a deal you like more during the season.   this thing centered only around jordan is absurd.

Just running it back with Doc leaving to another team (or the broadcasting booth) would be a total fiasco for this team.

Might as well hang a sign over the entire season that says "This is not what we wanted to do."

Basically you just get a repeat of this last season, only with a sour taste in everybody's mouth and a cloud hanging over the entire business.

C's-Clips still trying, but talks have slowed down at this hour. Teams going about draft business, but keeping phones handy.
still NOTHING about what the parameters of the deal are ??

yeah....

we close our eyes and bend over

And kiss the ground that Danny walks on...

To everyone fretting over losing grandpa KG and old man Rivers.

Let it go and be lucky that we are getting something for them

Do you really expect to win championship next season with KG, Pierce and Doc?

Can't argue here. Though 2020 is being pessimistic.

With that being said, I'm still mad that I sold NBA 2k13 last week and have to wait until October 1 before I can do these trades in NBA 2k14 :(

And cap space when KG's contract comes off the books, post-retirement.

It would be nice if the deal wasn't contingent on buying out Pierce... because if not, I'd love to trade Pierce to a team like Dallas for Marion, Carter (both expiring) and the #14 pick... then once Dallas buys out Pierce, they'd have enough cap space to offer both Dwight AND Chris Paul.  Try to lure Chris Paul away from the Clippers.  THen Doc and KG are stuck on a team without a superstar point guard... the whole thing probably ends up a disaster.  KG retires.  Doc gets fired.  Bring back Pierce next year so he can retire a Celtic.  Hire KG as our big man coach... then in 2018 when we start looking like a playoff team again and Doc is ready to leave the Broadcast booth, we can hire Doc to coach Wiggins as he enters his prime.

One proposed solution in Celtics-Clippers talks, sources say: If Clips take back Courtney Lee or Jason Terry, Boston would relent on Bledsoe

Sure, but we can get that by having KG retire / leave this summer, rather than next summer.

The draft to tank for is 2014, not 2015 or 2016.

Probably not unless of course they make a move for Smith to add to the core. The KG comment is hilarious since he was still good last year. I could cite stats but again who wants to look at useless information like that. The only stat that matters right now is age.
