One proposed solution in Celtics-Clippers talks, sources say: If Clips take back Courtney Lee or Jason Terry, Boston would relent on Bledsoe
Please don't give up Courtney Lee. Happily get rid of Terry though.

Why?

He is the definition of a complimentary player (and didn't even play very well last year).

We need to free up space and money and tradable assets need to be gathered.  He is not a help.

Because I believe Courtney Lee (and his contract) are easy to move in another deal.

But Jason Terry (or Bass) are not.
Lee's contract is the worst of the lot. Plus, instead of building on what I thought to be a solid foundation from the season before, he has actually regressed.

I don't think Lee's contract is worse. It is a year longer. Not necessarily worse though. I think several teams would be happy to pay Lee that money. I don't think Boston will have any problems moving that contract.

Just like I think several teams would be more than happy to pay Bass $4-5 million a year (fair compensation for Bass' talent, like C-Lee's contract is fair) but unfortunately his contract is up at $7 million per annum and I think that really hurts his trade-ability.

Jason Terry just looks old. Too old. I think it'll be hard to find a team willing to take a chance on two years $10 million.

Seems like to get KG / Doc the clippers could deal with a veteran scorer like Terry off the bench.  If they are all in for a title run next season, then it actually seems like a good fit to me.

One thing I'm pretty confident of in Clips-Cs mess: Vinny Del Negro is not going to be Boston's next head coach.

That's some good news. Sure does take away some of the edge.

This is just me, but having DeAndre Jordan along with future picks, can that be moved to acquire, say, DMC?
I doubt even Rondo would get us DMC...

I don't think so. I think you need to give up an All-Star talent to get in the conversation for Cousins. Someone they can build around.

I still think Rondo matches up well for them. Rondo for Cousins, I mean.

I have no problem trading KG and shedding Doc at this point, my problem is DeAndre Jordan.  He only averages 24 minutes per game and only grabs 7 rebounds per game at that, even though he is 6'11".  He only shot .386 from the FT line, that is atrocious.  Even if we got better as a team, he flat out couldn't play in the 4th quarter because of Hack-a-DeAndre.  He is also ridiculously overpaid, which will hurt our rebuilding even further.  Plus, he gets a 15% trade kicker on top of that.  He is the posterboy for how broken PER is.  What a terrible stat

the only downside to losing Terry in the deal is we lose pretty much all our "veteran presence" in the locker room. it doesn't count for much in terms of numbers, but OKC players have said that Perk's championship pedigree helped them grow up a lot. With no Doc either, Rondo will have to be the one to pass all that "winning mentality" to the team.

i love how danny screwed this up last summer by signing all this garbage, now he's the idiot trying to rid himself of it.  what a horrible day to be a celtics fan.

i can't wait to watch the idiots with deandre jerseys.
Yes, and we may be one Rondo knee injury away from everyone singing praises about how masterfully he reloaded in motion.

you think this team was only rondo away from the title?  did you watch them before he got hurt?
I think this team may have been only Rondo away from being considerably better in the playoffs. Making an assessment of the signings while ignoring the fact that you lost the player who you expected to be a major piece of your starting rotation for about half of the 3-year window you were shooting for is plain silly.

I think Courtney Lee would be perfect for the Clippers.

Exactly the type of role player SG they need alongside their other starters. Especially with a bench scorer like Jamal Crawford playing behind him.

G - Paul, Bledsoe
G - Lee, Crawford
F - Butler, Barnes
F - Griffin
C - Garnett

I think LAC should be trying to fit Courtney Lee into the deal.

Don't want any part of DMC on a Celtics team that might be worse than the Kings next year

Especially when the whole issue is we couldn't create a shot and that's what Rondo does for himself and others.  It is oddly overlooked (but no surprised Rondo would be, he's awful cause we won some regular season games witho ut him, remember?)

Surprised so many are eager to get rid of Lee – a 2-guard with shooting range, youth, athleticism and defensive versatility.  A lot of teams will be interested if he can get back to form.  Terry on the other hand looked toast for much of last year and he’s a year older.  I would much rather dump Terry.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

The thing that needs to be understood though:  taking DeAndre Jordan back for us is practically a favor.  If he's the centerpiece of a trade that is a big issue.  We need to be getting Bledsoe or ditching Terry AND Lee.

I think he's a better building piece. But I wouldn't want to give up TOO much. People who think we can get Evans AND DMC are delusional, as I doubt we can get DMC alone.

Hell, I'd give the #16 and Rondo for DMC (no homer). He could be THAT good.

Talks to this point: KG to #Clippers--w/Doc, whether in this deal or not. #Celtics get DeAndre + No. 1. Celts say LAC must take Lee or Terry

if this is the deal..pretty lackluster for boston...just dumping salary for an overrated center and a low pick in a future draft
