He wants a contender doesn't he? Indiana doesn't fit that mould for me...

The quote I read was that he "desperately" wanted to play for a winner.  So I hope he is just going to wait for the deal to get settled.

Yeah, I think he'll choose us over Indiana. I fear a third team might make a last minute offer and spoil it though (fingers crossed).
LA Lakers? For David West in exchange for the traded player exception?

Maybe they switched targets from CP3 to David West. See West as a better asset (than Odom) to net Dwight Howard or a better fit alongside Dwight Howard if they use Pau + Bynum to land Dwight.

Haven't read anything thus far that indicates LA's interest in David West. What I have read though is that they plan on using the picks they will get along with the trade exception, Gasol and Bynum to acquire Dwight...not sure how accurate that is though.

Quote
Lakers had offered Lamar Odom to teams with salary cap space, one GM says. "He wanted out and they really wanted to reduce the tax bill."

I think this will fall apart, it seems that the NO front office is in ruins and the NBA is not allowing anything to go through unless NO absolutely fleeces the other team. Its understandable to a degree, but if this doesn't happen today I could potentially see the agents for David West and Chris Paul file complaints with the league and potentially pursue legal council. I mean how the NBA can potentially slow down a freaking sign and trade is beyond me. NO gets an expiring contract and potentially JJJ, that is enough, just get this [dang] thing done already. David Stern has passed Gary Bettman as the worst commish in sports.

Isn't David West a free agent and we are doing a sign and trade for him? This means he could leave outright to a team with cap room and NOH gets nothing. I don't get why everyone thinks the NBA has to "approve" this.....They have the potential to get something from us when in fact they could end up with nothing pretty easy, especially if the Pacers swoop in and just outright sign him

ya, I dont get why it would be so hard. NO really doesnt have many options.

but if its all about moving JO, maybe Miami or Dallas could take him(both are in need of centers)

Im getting tired of free agency haha..im ready to just know who is on the team and start the season

Since the Celtics don't have the cap room, the sign and trade needs to be approved by the other owners etc...the whole Hornets situation is screwing up things for everyone right now.

Bottom line, if West rally wants out or to play for the Celtics....and I think he does, he will be gone to the Pacers pretty soon. Why should he wait for the Hornets to fumble around and mess this up like they did with CP3? Camp has started and West isnt dumb. He will look like garbage with a new team if he doesnt get some reps in soon.

West has said he wants to play vfor a winner; that's not Indy.

While I was on board with the CP3 trades, what I'm most concerned about is having West on this team, regardless who our PG is.

In a perfect world, it'd be Paul and West coming here for the trade Roy suggested.  However, the one thing I want to be absolutely sure about is that Danny doesn't lose sight of West with the whole Paul pursuit.

I'm absolute salivating at the opportunity to put 5 All Stars on the court together.

I get that but, it is basically 1) get something in return for David West from Boston or 2) David West signs with another team and NOH gets nothing.

I really don't see why they WOULDN'T approve it

Why are those their only choices?  Other teams could put together sign and trade offers for West the same way the Celtics can.

True, but I'm just saying that we're probably not the only team that West would agree to go to in an S&T scenario and that it's not likely that the choice is either accept Boston's offer or receive nothing.  Seems like a false choice.

Apparently Indiana is also an option for him, if West has his choices narrowed to us or them then it could be compensation from us or nothing.
