  • Rondo = Good
This one has been very disappointing.

I was hugely looking forward to KK at center and a team of elite shooters around Rondo. It would have been the most beautiful offense in the league.

Danny should have put more picks on the table. There was never enough incentive for New Orleans to take on JO's salary. Danny needed to do more.

yeah, i was really looking forward to seeing that front court in action.

ah well.  we get to watch JO play 1/3 of the team's games and Wilcox start the other 2/3.  yay.

WHO ARE WE GOING TO SIGN WITH THAT CAP SPACE?

Cap Space not necessarily just for signing players...you can absorb a guy like Lamar Odom for a trade exception or cap space. Might scoff at it, but Odom and Beasley have been recent pickups for virtually nothing.

We dodged a bullet...it would've hurt our cap space for next year, only guys signed next year would be rondo, pierce, johnson with team option on bradley and moore. Bass could opt out next summer and sign somewhere else.

If we trade Bradley for a pick we gain 1 million in cap space and Moore is a scrub anyway. We would have 25-26 million in cap space. Hopefully Howard is a free agent then we could start his first year at 18 million and have 7-8 million to resign KG and Allen to multiple year (2 year contracts). Then sign vet minimum guys... West is finished forget about him he's just looking for his last payday.

WHO ARE WE GOING TO SIGN WITH THAT CAP SPACE?

im sick of hearing about preserving cap space.  howard, paul, and d-will won't be available next season.  the free agent crop you're talking about next summer sucks.

the cap space won't be much good except for cobbling together a team that will ensure us a high lottery pick after next season.

I'm just hoping that Marc Gasol doesn't sign an extension with the Grizzlies. With CP3, DWill and DHoward unlikely to sign here, Gasol would be a nice consolation pickup.

Celtics simply couldn't make 3 way deal with Hornets and Jermaine O'Neal contract.

hmmmm.... it might be time to change the thread title.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

We really had no business being in the run for him in the first place.  I couldn't see why N.O. would take J.O. for him without more talent in return.  But it was nice to dream for a day or two!

At least this way KG doesn't play the 5 as much and we keep our rookie.

At this point, it looks like Danny will have to use that cap space in trades more so than free agency.

Look for opportunities like the recent Lamar Odom to Dallas trade or a deal like when the Suns traded Kurt Thomas + two draft picks to Seattle to get rid of his salary. Use those extra picks to rebuild more slowly.

I think it'll be a mixture of both = trades + FA signings with that cap space.

so, are we going to build around an odom or a beasley?  those guys were jettisoned for a reason.  they're nice players, but they aren't cornerstones.

I respectfully reserve the right to not get excited about anything until the regular season opener. My lil heart just can't take it anymore.

Al Jefferson too.

Well, I mean, we could be picking up Austin Rivers with that Clippers pick next year.  As long as the Clippers are mediocre (if they are too good, the pick will be low, if they are too bad, the Clippers get the pick).  /sigh

It looks a near-certainty that Marc Gasol will re-sign with the Grizzlies.

I don't hold much hope of M.Gasol making it to FA next summer.

3 Strikes.... the lesson here is that you can no longer trust a word the media says until you see the newly signed/traded player wearing your jersey in a press conference.  They have been jumping the gun over-and-over.

It's hard to believe that it was so awful to take JO on an expiring contract and we were surely going to part with something in the mix. Now they have nothing to show for it.
