at least its not the lakers

I really want this to happen.  Howard + Deron would be interesting to watch, and the Nets aren't Satan incarnate.

Exactly. keeping howard out of LA is a huge win for all. Plus with the Knicks addition of Chandler, our division won't as much as a joke
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

It was rumoured that they had offered two first round picks besides Morrow and Lopez. Was that wrong?

Best point-guard and best center in the league playing in the same team. When was the last time that happened? Penny/Shaq? Nope. Magic/Kareem? I'm not sure Kareem had a year of being the best center in the league during the 80s. Stuck behind Moses Malone first and Hakeem later. Alcindor/Robertson, probably.

I'd heard that as well.  I think they own a Houston pick and all of their own picks going forward.

exactly.  would it prevent the celtics from contending for the next 5+ years?  perhaps.  a team with deron, dwight, and lots of money would be hard to beat.  i think even the heat might not be able to deal with them, as long as the nets have good wing defenders.

but id much rather see the newly christened Brooklyn Nets forge a dynasty than the Lakers get yet another one.

IF we get West, after KG, Bass, Wilcox.... don't you think were better keep Marshon Brooks pick?

Well, Danny probably didn't realize there would be so much opportunity to upgrade the PF position.  In hindsight, he might have targeted another position, but at the time finding a young big man was very smart.

Yeah, its Houston's first rounder (top 14 protected through 2016) but Detroit holds Houston's second (top 40 protected in 2012, top 35 protected in 2013-'14). I doubt that second pick means much to Orlando.

Still, Lopez + Morrow + Houston's #1 + Nets #1 is a good offer for Dwight. Better than Bynum and the scrubs LA will try to unload.

also consider than the Nets can sign and trade Kris Humphries to Orlando.  Humphries is coming off a career year.  there's also MarShon Brooks and Damion James, both quality upside wings.

i still think JJJ will be a strong contributor down the road, regardless.

Don't know why Celtics can't get into these talks.

Rondo + Green + JJJ + Clippers 2012 first-rounder  + Celtics 2013 first-rounder.

That's a better deal than the Nets one (Rondo better than Lopez, Clips pick should be better than Houston's or New Jersey's) or anything the Lakers would be able to come up with.

The CP3 saga is playing out in front of us...in the end, it doesn't matter what we can offer. If Howard doesn't want to play in Boston, he will walk away after the season. Boston is not on his list from all the rumours I've read.

Not only at the time, but it still is.
He may be pushed out of minutes for this year but its never a bad idea to go big in the draft. Bigs drop like flys in this league and you can never have enough of them.
