Please educate any idiot who suggests trading KG or Ray Allen and then resigning them after they are bought out and waived about this rule.

  Lighten up, Francis.

Bye bye West

SherrodbCSN A. Sherrod Blakely
League source says the David West to #Celtics deal not being done yet a ripple effect of the CP3 deal being shot down.

Oh, i forgot... LA is going to take CP3 anyway... Nice move Stern

I'm not sure about the bye-bye part. This indicates there is a deal in place, and Paul to the Lakers appears imminent to me.

You're right, sherrod just clarified: he thinks West to Celtics is on hold, not dead trade

So the Lakers team would be:

PG - C.Paul, D.Fisher, S.Blake
SG - K.Bryant, (empty spot) G.Green
SF - R.Artest, M.Barnes, J.Kapono
PF - L.Scola, (empty spot)
C  - E.Okafor, (empty spot)

I don't understand that trade for the LA. It takes them out of the running for Dwight Howard and creates a worse team than their current group of guys.

scola is a double double guy and okafor can be the anchor of that defense they are very solid like that actually plus cp3 and kobe will make them better

it does, but ensures that they'll stay relevant throughout the rest of kobe's career and beyond that.

they'd still be a good team, but they wouldn't have a chance at ruling the NBA for years to come with dwight on board.  my hope is that the NBA insists on getting bynum back in a trade, and the Lakers cave because they want to get Chris Paul at all costs.

honestly though, otherwise the Lakers aren't giving up very much to get Paul.  less than the Rockets are giving up to get Gasol.  and the Hornets aren't getting any true young building blocks, unless you think Jordan Hill is the next great thing.

Not sure why Houston are so eager to join in this trade.

They can clear enough cap space that they could theoretically sign Nene and pair him with Pau Gasol in their frontcourt.  They also get clear of some players who are good enough to get them to the playoffs but not good enough to make them championship contenders, so they can retool into a better foundation for a contender without having to blow up the team and rebuild.

... because building around two 30-somethings making 60% of the cap and signed to long-term contracts is always a recipe for success.  Especially when one of those players fits into the good-but-not-elite category, and the second is probably still elite, but is starting to show signs of decline.

pau gasol and nene are obviously two of the better building blocks in this league. Mentors and world travelers

Jeff Green signed 1-year deal worth $9 million with Celtics, source said. He did not sign the mere qualifying offer.

i don't think he's going to be traded now
