According to him and his doctors, yes.

Let's hope that Wes Welker's surgeon treated him.

The Celtics doctors will get to look at him too, and we can back out of the deal easily enough if they don't like what they see.

Please, keep the Celtics doctors far, far away from the guy.  ;)

I have absolutely no faith in the Celtics medical staff, which is crazy, since Boston is one of the top medical cities in the country.  However, our guys rarely seem to recover smoothly, and there have been some notable misdiagnoses.

I've pondered whether or not trading for West would be a good idea or not, and I've come to the conclusion it would not be a good idea.

Maybe had we not traded Baby for Bass, we could have traded Baby for West.  Too late though now.  As it stands, if we do make this deal, we will have no starting center.  You do not win championships without a legitimate starting center.  KG is NOT a center, never has been.  None of the other PFs on our roster are even remotely capable of being considerd a starting center either.

Just as some background, here is a list of the last decade+ of starting centers for each NBA champion.

Chandler-Dallas
Bynum-LA
Bynum-LA
Perkins-Boston
Duncan-SA
Shaq-Miami
Duncan-SA
Wallace-Detroit
Robinson-SA
Shaq-LA
Shaq-LA
Shaq-LA
Robinson-SA

Here's who our bigs would be:  KG, West, Bass, Wilcox, Johnson. Not a single one of these guys are a legitimate starting center.

Bad idea!

You forgot the immortal Franciso Elson and Fabrico Olberto. They were the Cs for SAS in 06-07

And the fact that Perkins wasn't amazing in 07-08 and only played low 20s in the games. Bynum was the same due to injury and ineffective play in 08-09 and 09-10

Take a look at the current market and tell me who you would rather have.

If you're thinking Howard, you can forget that pipe dream, no way he is coming to Boston.

Its like Doc said today, just get the best available players. Worry about how they fit afterwards.

You might have a point if JO were a legitimate starting center but sorry, no.

If you're a #celtics fan, you should root for the CP3 trade to go through because I'm hearing that's what's holding up the David West trade

I think the Paul deal goes through and this shortly after
I think the West move is linked to the Paul move. So, I think they go through at the same time, or even West first then Paul. I think the hold up is getting Stern to sign off on the whole thing.
