For anyone that may not be happy about this move.. the New Jersey Nets have just upped their offer to NeNe to 4 years and $70 million, which is absolutely unreal money. We are getting West for 3 years and 27-29 million and I think West and NeNe are almost equal as players.
Wow, what is that, $17.5 million a year? For Nene? Jeez ...

I mean the big difference is that Nene can play the C position.  But, ya for the money i would rather have D-West
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

West will be 31 for this entire season...so we would get him at 31, 32, and 33. I think that's pretty good, but I worry about him defensively since he was average before the ligament tear.

What a waste...So much for getting Dwight...

They can still get Dwight.  I believe a trade of Lopez, Morrow, and picks could still bring back Dwight.

I have a feeling that the celtics are getting in on the La Lakers trade...maybe NOL flips JO to the LA Lakers(who would be thin up front) so LA is taking on contracts as part of the CP3 deal

The Celtics have a good enough defense where they can hide him..they need another big man who can shoot and score.. that is what West is. The Celtics were so limited in the Playoffs offensively last year. When the big 3 werent on the court they couldnt score. That problem is solve, celtics will be a huge matchup nightmare..deepest team in league

Wait , so can someone update me? Is the deal dead?

Not dead... I woke up wondering the same thing today. Chris Broussard was just on SportsCenter and he said that the deal is still very much on. Thank the Herald for saying it was dead. Only trust Woj, Spears, and Broussard.

I don't think Broussard belongs in the same paragraph as Woj and Spears.  But I will choose to believe him this one time as the exception that proves the rule (the rule being that Broussard is a blowhard who knows nothing).

I think Broussard is a good source. I will agree with you that he is a blowhard though... don't like that guy at all.

It's a legitimate concern, but it's not like West was ever a player who relied on superior athleticism to offend or defend.

So hopefully any sort of drop-off will hopefully be minimal.

The Hornets have only $42m on their books.  They need to add players, and paying JO $6.2m for one year isn't a totally indefensible roster move.  It also gives them a valuable expiring contract to possible pair with Okafor at the deadline in order to get out from under his deal if need be, or to pick up a good player from a team looking for an expiring $6m deal in facilitating a threeway deal at the deadline.

That article is obviously using the Boston Herald article as a source.. there are no quotes.. Wojo and Spears are the basketball guys on Yahoo.. as long as they say it is happening this is still on.. just relax and see what plays out.

Plus that is an article from a fantasy basketball writer and not credited to any yahoo basketball insider. I haven't seen Danny Ainge quoted on anything since this broke. This thing will get donw.
