I think there's pretty wide agreement that there are no perfect teams out there.  Every single contender has noticeable flaws.

This year, it's really going to come down to playoff matchups in the voting, at least as far as I'm concerned.

yup... agreed. Well outside of Denver of course  ;)

I have to commend the commishes again on the decision to do the modified snake draft --- i think i more evenly distributed the talent (even though it might have led to a bit less trading).

There was less trading? I didn't notice.

Well, here are last year's trades.  I'm not counting but I'd be hard-pressed to think there was more.

That Denver team made some nice moves last year.

What happened with that GM this year?

He drafted Roy Hibbert  ::) And then he stole Azubuike from me for the second consecutive year.

Like nick, I'm at the point where I think I am done with making changes, as I feel I've exhausted trade options.

Head Coach: J. Van Gundy

PG: Tony Parker, Ramon Sessions
SG: O.J. Mayo, Aron Afflalo
SF: Danny Granger, Austin Daye
PF: Boris Diaw, J.J. Hickson, Jonas Jerebko
C:  Sam Dalembert, Zaza Pachulia, Dan Gadzuric

In Europe: Nick Calathes

If I could start Afflalo, I would. It kills me to have to bring him off the bench.

I think Hickson makes the leap this year, and perhaps should start ahead of Diaw, for improved rebounding. Diaw could facilitate the offense for the second unit.

Mayo is another playmaker in the backcourt, and could be the emergency third PG. Sessions will back up Tony.

Jerebko, Gadzuric, and Pachulia all bring hustle and energy off the bench. Daye is a diamond in the rough who needs to develop a bit, but could conceivably play three positions for me.

I've left one roster slot open, in case there was a need the committee felt I should address through waivers.

Lucky17... bought this franchise in August, 2010, with the vision... to somehow acquire Boris Diaw.  When you look at Boris Diaw and what he's done to this franchise, he's changed everything.  As we celebrate his brilliance and if you talk to Boris Diaw and what a classical human being he is... He reminds you of Beethoven and his symphony #3 in E flat which escorted in the age of romanticism in music. When I look at Boris Diaw, I think of Beethoven and the age of the romantics.  This guy, has got it all.

unless anymore trades happen which i am still open to.
the LA Lakers will end up looking like this:

PG Curry/Augustin/Dooling
SG Roy/Richardson
SF Prince/Green/McGrady
PF Beasley/Harrington/Gooden
C  Chandler/Andersen

I'm going to make a request for this thread.  If there's any ambiguity, can we please use a first name or initial when naming players.  I have no idea if this is Jason Richardson or Q Richardson.  Nor if its Chris Anderson or Ryan Anderson.  Haven't had this problem until this team.  I think it'd be inappropriate of me to simply list "Gasol" as my starting center.  This is especially true when we're talking about the Smith's, Williams', Krstic's, and Dragic's of the league.

KC,
thanks for making read through how many deals i made last year and how i barely understand what it all means.  Toronto was certainly active.

Portland, too.  And I know some of our trades aren't listed; I remember moving down a couple of times in the second round for decent value.

  • Yup
unless anymore trades happen which i am still open to.
the LA Lakers will end up looking like this:

It's Chris AnderSEN and Ryan AnderSON...I guess it's still ok to use first names too though  ;)

Yeh, I'm a dork.  Sorry.
Yup

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
My team is one hundered percent finished.

Chicago Bulls:
A little glimpse of my vision:

(the x% is the percent out of a 100% for minutes per game at that postion. So, if I have Mike Miller 46% at the SG, and 20% at the SF, he's playing 22 mins at the SG and 10 mins at the SF, 32 mins total)

PG: Brandon Jennings (75%), Eric Maynor (25%)
SG(pre All-Star Break): Mike Miller (46%), Von Wafer(34%), Landry Fields (10%), Tony Allen (10%)
SF: LeBron James (60%), Tony Allen (25%), Mike Miller (15%)
PF: Ersan Ilyasova (60%), LeBron James (20%), Louis Amundson(10%), Gani Lawal(10%)
C: Joakim Noah (65%), Louis Amundson (20%), Omer Asik (15%)

Waitin til February: Michael Redd

How will you develop your two rookies enough with so few minutes? Jamison is a liability at the 4 on defense, how will you address his vulnerability. Playing Hedo at the 4? Why would you do that!?

Offensively how do you plan on using Hedo, Davis, Dwight, and Jamison? Also how do you weave Salmons in, he's the kind of player who'll break plays. How much will Baron be running pick and roll, and how much will Hedo run?

Faf makes an interesting point, is it possible you have too much discordant talent?

Quick answers, I'll go more into detail in my presser

1. I'm looking for contributions out of these rookies. There's too much talent on this team to get too involved on their development. Though I'm considering increasing their minutes slightly

2. Yes, I will counter Antawn's d with Dwight Howard. Rashard Lewis isn't much of a defensive player either.

3. Hedu at the 4 because he's tall enough to do it, he spreads the floor, gives us another look offensively, and gives us another playmaker on the floor. Defensively, he's a bit of a liability, but I expect team defense would greatly assist him.

4. Outisde of last second shots, there will never be a time that Jamison, Hedu Turkoglu and Dwight Howard will be on the floor at the same time. Even Davis and Turkoglu will only be on the floor together for about 10 minutes a night.

5. Pick and rolls will be uuuuuuge part of our offense. Both with Baron as well as Turk.

6. Salmons was selectd to break plays, he's option 2 after pick and rolls. He assists us greatly in the half court game.
