Of course it means nothing and it may be a false statement by the "Deli guy" but I'm starting to get really excited about this trade so I hope it will happen.

I need a 2nd source. That yahoo article and their "NBA source" is pretty weak.

Boston.com is weak... seriously, they can't do anything more than reference the yahoo article?

Yea, it's always funny to me how the national media gets the leaks before the local guys that are with the team every day.
This was likely deliberately leaked by Washington or Boston. Both teams have been desperately shopping their respective pieces and been getting crappy offers in return.

They're hoping that this will drive up offers, but I can also see it happening. It'd save Washington the most money out of any proposed trade proposal, and its the sort of move I can see Wyc signing off on blowing up the budget for.

Craziness, I still am really excited by this prospect.

It makes too much sense to not happen.

Wasington gets cap space. They are in the tax this year as is.
Maybe take Baby instead of Scal.

Boston gets obvious.

Butler and Jamison get a chance to contend. I think Washington brass wants to treat Jamison well.  Added the fact that Washington doesnt like Lebron and Cleveland.

Win win for everyone. It will happen.

I need to not hear these things.  The idea of this trade makes me giddy.  If you combine this with Davis for Augustin, then this team is in tremendous shape.

I know I have been saying that they won't take on that much future salary, but this is different than taking on bad salaries in order to get a young guy.  This is taking on salaries for productive (if not star) players.  Neither of these guys are really overpaid.  This trade would dramatically increase the teams chances of a championship this year and next, and I think that could be enough to convince Wyc to take on the salary next season.

They need to pull the trigger on this right away, so Washington can't take any other offers!

Looking at that guys silly forum name I have my doubts.

I think this is just a trial ballon at this point, still.....

;D at least I'm excited for today!

Anyone else worried that us going after Jamison means that the FO has lost hope that KG will return to anything close to his former self? That was one of my first reads, despite Jamison being a solid ball player.

Detroit adds Wallace at the deadline.  Win the title.

LA adds Gasol during the season.  Make it to the NBA final.

I am sure there are a ton more examples.
I'm saying if you add Jamison/Butler + Augustin as some had speculated - and you subtract Ray, Baby and maybe someone else.
Plus with KG's situation, maybe he's out of the picture by the playoffs.  Personally I'm at the point where maybe you shut him down till mid to late March and hope he's a little better by playoff time.  As is you're not winning anything with him.

But I digress....all I'm saying is if you change too much with too little practice time, you're going to have a tough time getting the unit to fire on all cylinders to the point necessary to beat a Cleveland/Orlando/Lakers etc.

Washington will wait till the deadline, they still want talent back. This leak is a shot across the bow of all the teams low balling them.

Please keep low balling them guys, please!

Caron Butler has an eFG% of 41%, 42% and 43% on his jump shots for the last three years.

Now that we've all taken a deep breath here, let's look at a couple of logistics. Considering the Wiz would easily trade both guys separately for cap space alone, The Cs will probably have to take a player they don't want (Stevenson) and give up more than Ray, Scal and JR -- at least 1 pick and maybe 2.

Also, if the Cs expand the deal, they could help the Wiz get under the lux tax. Like this, plus 2 picks from the Cs:

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yj43rx3

Here's the question: Does Gil Arenas' and Jar Crittendon's salary NOT being paid count against the cap / lux tax?

Anyone?

Only half of their salary while being paid counts against the luxury tax.

The Wizards save about $4 million from Arenas' suspension ... which I think has them $4-5 million above the luxury tax threshold? Not sure though.

All valid points but at this point I'm ready to take the risk.  I mean let's be honest a move had to made for Ray to even have a chance.

Cool on this team he'll be getting a boat load more layups.

This still sounds like a bunch of BS to me, and that guy from the Inside Hoops forum seems to have a reputation of being a troll.
