Houston gave Aaron Holiday 2yrs $10mil.

Hmm ... I thought they were going to hand over the backup guard duties to Amen Thompson and Reed Sheppard next season. Looks like they are bringing back A Holiday to continue as their backup PG instead.

2nd season is a team option.

so to me it feels like OKC had a really good off season.   they really solidified the def side of the ball.
they feel like the big competition to the C's in the next 2-3 years.

I wonder if Charlotte will start Josh Green.

G: LaMelo
G: Josh Green
F: Brandon Miller
F: Miles Bridges
C: Mark Williams

That could be a fun group if LaMelo can stay healthy.

The Hornets have a surprisingly settled looking team for a rebuilding squad. So if that is their starting 5, their bench would be:

G: Tre Mann, Reggie Jackson
G: Nick Smith Jr, Amari Bailey
F: Cody Martin
F: Grant Williams, Tidjane Salaun
C: Nick Richards

They have Vasilijie Micic & Davis Bertans as well. I don't know if Micic is going to be in this trade for Josh Green or not. Mixed reports. Deal not finalized yet it seems.

That is a 15 man roster complete already. Maybe 14 man if Micic is traded.

Thompson to the Mavs.
Great lineup:
Gafford
Washington
Doncic
Klay
Kyrie
Lively
Green

Except for the part where 3 of those guys don?t play defense particularly well.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark

Golden State look weak

G: Steph, G Payton III
G: Podziemski, D Melton
F: Kuminga, Moody
F: Draymond, Wiggins
C: T Jackson-Davis, Looney

Steph is the only above average offensive player in that starting lineup. Podz is at best average. Kuminga or Wiggins at are both probably a little below average. Draymond & TJD / Looney are well below average. They can't expect Steph to do everything for them.

Even the bench. You got two defensive guards. You got a straight forward 3+D wing in Moody. You have a garbage man center (Looney or JTD). You have only one bench scorer in Wiggins or Kuminga. Neither one of whom who is much of a passer or an outside shooter.

This is looking like a .500 team. They gotta get Steph some real help. Their GM Mike Dunleavy Jr looks gun shy. Too afraid of trading the young guys. So afraid that he is wrecking the final years of Steph's career. Steph is still good enough to be out there winning Championships. They are just not getting him enough help.

Klay took 9 threes a game last season for them. The next best was Andrew Wiggins at 3.6 3PTA. A lot of low volume three point shooters around Steph there.

Golden State gotta make a move. This isn't good enough.

The apron system doesn't really curb spending. Teams are still throwing piles of cash at midlevel and role players.

It?s not supposed to curb overall spending, just the spending by the very top teams.
