The Denver Nuggets have agreed to trade Reggie Jackson and three unprotected second round picks to the Charlotte Hornets.

The Toronto Raptors have acquired Davion Mitchell, Sasha Vezenkov and the 45th pick in the 2024 NBA draft from the Sacramento Kings for Jalen McDaniels.

The trade opens up a roster spot for the Kings and gets them under the luxury tax.

Denver's bench gets even weaker without Reggie Jackson. He is replaceable though. We'll see what they do in FA. Should be fine. So long as they do not screw up.

I like the Kings moving on from Davion Mitchell and Vezenkov. Vezenkov made no impact last year. Davion Mitchell has been liability each year of his career. Time to move on. Sacramento picked up Devin Carter in the draft to replace Davion. I don't think much of Jalen McDaniels. He was in the way in Toronto. Probably will be in Sacramento too.

No Jackson. Maybe not KCP. Nuggets looked like a possible dynasty. Lots of question marks now.

New Los Angeles Lakers coach JJ Redick has reportedly denied an allegation that he called a woman the N-word during his time at Duke University.

Redick, a longtime NBA shooting guard, was introduced as the Lakers coach on Monday, replacing Darvin Ham. He has no prior coaching experience in the league, working as a podcaster and ESPN analyst since ending his 15-year playing career.

The allegation that Redick used the N-word came from Lakers fan and Duke alum Halleemah Nash, who wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter: ?I?ve only been called the N word to my face by a white man once in my life and it was on the campus of Duke University while I was doing work with the basketball team.

?And today he was named the new head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. What a world.?

I'm a big believer in "allegations aren't evidence", but we'll see if this does any damage.

Don't matter, it's the Lakers so we gotta bash at them with every chance we get. After all, they like to bag on us and discredit our ring. Guilty until proven innocent.  8)

Yeah, it sounds like Orlando are circling KCP. They like him the best of the two guards. Younger. More athletic. Plays legit defense.

Real risk Denver lose KCP. No title for Denver without all three of KCP, Bruce Brown and Aaron Gordon. It was those three and their defense that helped balance out Jokic, J Murray and MPJ. They already lost B Brown last year. Now maybe KCP. Only A Gordon remains. Might finish them off as a title contender.

I?m worried that they might wind up with Cassell as the head coach if they did a late search should this Redick thing get legs, and I?d like to keep Sam for another year.

Eric Gordon has declined his $3.4 million player option with the Phoenix Suns for the 24-25 season to become an unrestricted free agent. Gordon averaged 11 points on 37.8 percent shooting last season with the Suns.

Last offseason, Gordon also received interest from the Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Milwaukee Bucks.

Good. I don't think they treated E Gordon that well in Phoenix. Games were he was playing well but the coach just benched him for no reason. So many other guys needing shots that he would become peripheral at times. He can get a better role elsewhere.

I like him for all three of those teams mentioned above. He'd be a great fit on all three squads. They all need more shooting. E Gordon could challenge M Beasley for a starting role in MIL. Good bench option in Minnesota and LAL. The Lakers need another veteran bench guard alongside Gabe Vincent. Their other guards are kids (Bronny, Max Christie, Hood-Schifino). Eric Gordon's shooting would be a great fit next to LeBron.

I imagine Eric Gordon in Minnesota would mean no out and out backup PG with N Alexander-Walker playing the backup PG minutes in a two two-guard backcourt next to E Gordon and/or Ant whenever Conley rests. That would be bad news for Rob Dillingham but I am not sure Minny should be depending on him anyways. He might need time.

The Houston Rockets received considerable trade interest in the No. 3 pick with both the Portland Trail Blazers and Memphis Grizzlies coveting Donovan Clingan. Sources tell Jake Fischer that the Rockets didn't provide much opportunity to listen to offers on the clock once it was clear Reed Sheppard would be available.

The Rockets had long been targeting Sheppard, who shot 52.1 percent on three-pointers. Sheppard gives the Rockets an elite shooter and playmaker who could be a perfect long-term pairing with Amen Thompson.

The Sacramento Kings also made an offer to the Bulls for Caruso built around the 13th overall pick in this week's draft.

Chicago clearly preferred the upside of Giddey over draft capital in return for Caruso.

For all the free agency news, when players are looking for new teams, it looks like these teams should just never be considered as landing places (due to the 2nd apron)?

Boston
Denver
Golden State
Phoenix
Milwaukee
LA Clippers

So if Denver loses a player like KCP or Phoenix loses Eric Gordon, they basically cannot replace them with anyone other than a vet min?

How about an undrafted rookie?  Can 2nd apron teams sign them?

I believe so, as long as it is a min deal.  Or they could sign an undrafted rookie to a 2-way deal.  But in either case, you don't expect an undrafted rookie to make much of an impact on teams like those listed.

What the heck? What is that? $35 million per year?

I suppose it is not awful. I would have had him down around $20-25 million though. They must be expecting some major improvements from him to justify a $30+mil per annum deal.

It reminds me of Jerami Grant's contract. $160 / 5 yrs. $32mil per year. Similar level player. J Grant a bit more valuable as an athletic wing. Then again, Quickley is a big guard who is harder to matchup hunt than many of the small PGs.

D White is a max contract.

OG Anunoby got max offers from "rival teams". I presume Philadelphia. If Anunoby can get the max, so too can D White.

Anunoby actually took less money to stay in NY. Less money was 5yr $225mil. That is what less money should look like for D White.
