A record will fall in 2024-25 for sure: most minutes played by players from the same college in the same NBA team in a season.

The Villanova Knicks came close to beating it in 2023-24 and that was before the Mikal Bridges trade.

Waltah, Antoine, Mercer...  I wish the Celts had stayed away from Pitino, though.

Don't forget the immortal Reggie Hanson and his 26 minutes played.

I don't know why folks are sleeping so much on the Knicks. They won 50 games last year. Their 2nd best player only played half the season. Their 3rd best player only played half the season. Their 3rd best big only played one third of the season.

They are going to be much better next season. Even before they got Mikal Bridges. They should be a high 50s low 60s win team.

It is not easy to jump from 50 wins to 60 wins.  It?s way easier to get from 40 to 50.  Bridges is not going to get them there, and while you can say missing Randle hurt them, it?s not clear that he?s actually a good fit for how they played in the second half of the year anyway.  I think that team is a 48-52 win team.  Easy money on the under total for wins if Vegas is as high on them as I expect they will be.

Pending who the Knicks bring back they are going to be elite.  Huge contender.  I hope two of OG, Randle, Robinson, Hartenstein go elsewhere.  Even losing one of OG, Randle and Hartenstein will be a huge loss.  This still have two picks in the mid 20s to use as well.  The Knicks are in a great position and scare me.

It will be interesting to see how they use Mikal Bridges.

A big lineup

G: Brunson
G: Mikal Bridges
F: OG Anunoby
F: Randle
C: Hartenstein

Dominant defensive group. A bit short on ball-handling and passing from the wings. The two bigs will have to make up for that. They may be able to do so. Hartenstein is a very good passer. Randle is a good passer and ball-handler. M Bridges would be their 3rd ball-handler in that lineup.

A non-Randle lineup

G: Brunson
G: DiVincenzo
F: Mikal Bridges
F: OG Anunoby
C: Hartenstein

Tough offensive team. Three strong shooters alongside Brunson's playmaking (scoring & passing). Hartenstein as a big man facilitator and finisher on the roll.

A small ball lineup

G: Brunson
G: DiVincenzo
F: Mikal Bridges
F: OG Anunoby
C: J Randle

Can you imagine trying to stop that 5 man lineup? That would be a strong closing lineup for NY. Especially if they have to let M Robinson go in order to make the money work. Start big with Hartenstein and go small with Randle at the five when Hartenstein rests.

The Knicks have a very strong top 6 now.

G: Brunson
G: M Bridges, DiVincenzo
F: OG Anunoby
F: J Randle
C: Hartenstein

I like McBride as an end of bench player. A bit like Pritchard for us. Not as good a shooter but a better athlete & defender.

If they were able to keep M Robinson that would make them extremely deep. I expect he will have to go though.

So to me it looks like the Knicks are trying to be the Celtics, the problem with that is the Celtics almost exclusively play lineups where all five guys are good on offense and good on defense. As long as the Knicks are playing Brunson they have a weak spot to attack on defense, and unlike the Celtics they don't have floor spacers at the five which gives the C"s someone to help off when they defend the Knicks. And on top of all that their wings aren't as good as the C's wings.

They're sort of a poor man's Celtics.

Now that not to say they won't be good, in fact I'd have them 2nd in the East right now pending what Mil and Phi do. And they COULD conceivably beat the Celtics if they get injury luck. That's not a bad place to be.

I think they'd be better off actually moving on from Randle and play DDV at 2 with OG and Mikal at the forward spots. That gives them 4 good spacers and an elite sixth man in Hart off the bench. They could still use just a true 3 point point sniper. They'd should also be trying to find a floor spacing big, problem is there aren't many of those. But true five out spacing would super charge their offense.

And you forgot Josh Hart, who is solid.

I'd definitely move Robinson, even if they have to attach a #1 in this year's draft to do it.

If the Knicks share the ball then they could be really dangerous. But if Brunson holds the ball majority of the time then there might be problems. Interesting to see how this pans out.

Man, that's a heavy price for Bridges.  I like the guy but not THAT much.

Can they keep both OG and Hartenstein?  They'd better.
How much do people think Hartenstein is going to get?  He isn't that good.

Around $25mil per year.

Strong defender. Strong rebounder. Very good passer. Nice short shot going to the basket. Probably a top 15 center.
I haven't seen Hartenstein all that much so I may be skewed by Embiid abusing him.  We have 2 centers better than him.  Minny has 2 or 3 better depending on how you count KAT.   Heck Hartenstein is 2nd best center on the Knicks if Robinson is healthy.  Hartenstein had the worst +/- for the Knicks for the playoffs.  I don't think he is a top 15 center and $25M would be too much for me.  I'd certainly prioritize re-signing OG.

Windhorst says the Warriors will offer PG13 the max contract.

Curry, George, Wiggins, Draymond. Kuminga. Pod. Not bad. Even with Klay leaving.

Did they trade for him? Because they can't afford to just sign him outright.

I think he would opt-out and then become a FA.

Now don't ask me about the Warriors cap situation and roster salaries because I have no clue

Warriors cannot sign him outright, without also trading Wiggins, waiving Paul, and renouncing Thompson. Even then I don't think they could.

I also don't think they can trade for him, as they cannot aggregate salaries to acquire him and they aren't trading Curry for him.

I think there is a lot of misinformation going on right now. It may demonstrate how much reporters actually just fabricate stuff to get views/clicks/attention. It doesn't seem like a lot of reporters even understand the basics of the new CBA.

That's a good trade for the Knicks especially if they can keep OG.... They will be right behind us next season...

I agree, somewhat.  The Knicks have to be thinking that several of those picks will be in the high 20s.

2025 - #25-30
2027 - #25-30
2028 (Bucks) - Top four protected, but could still be a lottery pick if they can't keep Giannis
2029 - This is where it gets dicey. Will salary cap issues and age start to affect the Knicks?
2031 - Total crapshoot.  This could be like the C's getting Tatum with the Nets' pick

But still, none of those later picks are guaranteed to even be in the teens.

So this trade is still TBD on who "wins" it.
