This is just plain stupid. Doc does not deserve to be the coach of the Eastern All Stars. They should have Just given it to JB Bickerstaff. The Bucks’ record is not because of Doc.

You'd think there would be a minimum amount of games coached, LOL...

I am pretty sure this has happened before.

Maybe Ty Lue. When David Blatt got fired. That was Ty Lue's first head coaching gig as well. I checked. Ty Lue was hired Jan 22nd and did the ASG on Feb 14th. Not even one month into his first head coaching gig and was coaching the ASG.

At least Doc is a highly experienced coach who has led multiple top level teams over his career and won an NBA title. Ty Lue was just starting and got shoe-horned in.

-----------------

They need to change this situation. Make a rule. It goes to the next team in line if the top team fires their coach.

You would, but the same thing happened with Ty Lue in 2016.

I definitely think it’s between those 2 but not clear cut. Would’ve been a good year for Tatum to raise to that level because it’s wiiiiide open…he just hasnt

According to Yahoo NBA reporter Jake Fischer, both the Bucks and Lakers have reached out to the Grizzlies — the team that acquired Smart from Boston in the 2023 blockbuster — about a possible trade. Fischer also noted that the list of potential suitors extends beyond Milwaukee and Los Angeles, but that Memphis is reportedly not interested at this point.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Tatum was 4th last season 280 votes, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was 5th with 46 votes.  Jokic and Giannis are probably 1-2 again.  Tatum could fall anywhere from 3 to 6'ish with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Doncic, maybe some others in the mix.  Right now though, I would have Tatum 3rd due to team and personal performance.

I still feel that Tatum is a better or more valuable individual player than Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.  Doncic is probably better individually than both.  But there is not a lot of separation.  Tatum brings the scoring but more defense and rebounding.

Is Giannis really better than Tatum?

I'm not sure of that. Tatum can play with anybody. Giannis has to be catered to and disrupts everyone around him. He is difficult.

Shai Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is having a freaky good season. I saw his stat line last night. It was 11-15 FGA and 8-10 FTA for 31pts. He is hyper-efficient. He has having nights like this regularly.

He is shooting 55% FG% now. He is adding 89% at the foul line and getting 9 FTAs against 20 FGAs per game. So a foul shot for every two shot attempts. Incredible foul drawing. So that 89% FT% and high FTA is pushing his overall scoring efficiency through the roof. 65% TS%. And that is without making many threes. Twos and FTs. As a guard.

Plus the 6.4apg against 2.2 TOs per game. Major playmaking in addition to the scoring. And leading the league in steals at 2.3spg. Plus strong guard rebounding at 5.6rpg in just 34mpg.

Tatum is more versatile, for sure.  But, he can't attack a defense like Giannis can, and he doesn't have the defensive impact, either.
JT relies too much on outside shots, and a lot of nights those don't go in.

I'M THE SILVERBACK GORILLA IN THIS MOTHER... AND DON'T NONE OF YA'LL EVER FORGET IT!@ 34 minutes

Do we over-rate Giannis defense?

Milwaukee has been bad defensively all season. He has two good defensive bigs alongside him in Brook and Portis. Their perimeter D is obviously bad. But still ... does Giannis defensive impact go as far as we have been crediting him these last few years?

I find myself wondering about that of late.

If Tatum can attack defenses on a consistent basis then I'd say Tatum over Giannis.
