Wow, Embiid has a torn meniscus. Timetable for treatment hasn't been decided yet.

Was just getting ready to post this.

Crazy. With a torn meniscus, that's at least most of the rest of the season, right?

If it's a minor tear you can rehab it without surgery, but even that is like 2 months of recovery time and not guaranteed to be enough. If you try rehab you still might end up needing surgery. If you get surgery its 3-6 months recovery time.

Sixers are done. He’s going to miss at least 2 months.

People saying anything between 4 weeks or 4 months. What a devastating blow for Philly.

With Embiid's size and injury history, it'll be interesting to see what he does. You have to play it safe I think if you're him/Philly, and even punt this year if that's what it comes to. Very unlikely they would be able to add enough at the deadline anyways to make them a legitimate threat to win it all.

Oh man that's awful for Embiid. Like @keevsnick said, if you repair it with surgery, it's 2 months minimum but probably more like 3-5 months realistically. If they decide not to do surgery to repair it, and remove it instead, it might be less than 2 months HOWEVER that could really impact the rest of his career and possibly even cause early arthritis (or chronic knee problems).

Ron Artest did the latter and was never the same. I believe Westbrook underwent the surgery back in 2018 when he had a torn meniscus but he obviously missed significant time. Westbrook is still a great, explosive player now though.

Like others have said though, I think this season is compromised regardless for Embiid. Even if he can return by playoff time, he'd still need to do a lot of rehab/conditioning and probably play limited minutes. No way he'll be 100% healthy again this season at least.

Yeah, some guys have been coming back remarkably quickly from these tears over the last couple of years.

They used to be a two month minimum.

Now you see guys coming back in 4-6 weeks.

The Memphis Grizzlies are trading Steven Adams to the Houston Rockets for Victor Oladipo and three second-round picks, sources tell ESPN.

Wow, that's not the type of move I expect to see Memphis making. It makes me wonder if they want to go with a more switchable defender at the Center spot... Maybe we see them go after Timelord? Smart, JJJ, and Timelord would form quite the defensive lineup (but I don't think they could score enough to make things matter)

Will Memphis get cap space next summer now?

S Adams only earning $12.6mil. That is MLE money. Seems fair. Hard to get a starting quality center for less money than that.

Sixers are definitely interesting.  Do they use Harris contract and build for next year? Do they shut Embiid down for the year?  Do they do the quick surgery and hope Embiid comes back and then take their chances on the play-in (that would potentially be awful for Boston if the Sixers with Embiid ended up the 8th seed)?  Really fascinated to see how that shakes out.  Shame he got hurt, but it makes their front office decisions so interesting in the next week or so before the trade deadline.

Rotation - Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah

Re: Joel Embiid: This is Embiid's second tear in his left lateral meniscus. He missed the final 37 game of the 2016-17 regular season and ultimately underwent a partial meniscectomy (removal). The location of this latest injury remains the key to possible treatment options.

If he already got it removed and they plan to remove more, his long term health and knee issues become real compromised even once he retires from basketball. He might be better off undergoing the surgery. But obviously they have more testing to do + have to determine specific locations and such. We don't know all the details

Just do the surgery regardless Embiid. For the family.

And maybe next year or two, come suit up for the Celtics.

Is there any chance they trade Embid now? And would a team like the Knicks take him this season?

no chance they trade him, however if he was available I believe every team in the league would make a call to see what the asking price was.  Knicks would be well positioned to acquire him given the amount of draft picks they have (as well as being able to send a guy like Randle for the money component).

Bucks are 0-2 with Doc Rivers with two blown leads. A Doc special

Now now give him a chance to really screw up……ol Duck Just needs more time to gel with his team.   He is too old school ,  he ll eventually put his foot in his mouth and say something that will hurt a divas feelings.   Then it’s good bye Ducky . He better suck up to those Greek boys.

So who gets fired first - Doc or Joe??
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Is anyone gonna sign Tony Snell? Part of me says the Cs should do it, but then again we’re on a championship mission and the 15th slot may matter when the buyouts come. I hope some other team signs him.

We probably end up signing another James Young or Carsen Edwards with that 15th spot. Rather just give it to Tony Snell if that's the case
