Mark Murphy said source is that Celtics offer for Gordon is one first round pick and a player (not Smart):

Not sure I buy this.  It doesn't seem to make sense.  If all we send out is a young player, that won't be much salary.  It doesn't work with the hard cap tax threshold.  I believe that the hard cap (no tax) number allows for about $13M net incoming.  Hard to believe the Celtics would expend the TPE and go into the tax for Gordon.

Celtics: "We'll send you Thompson, Nesmith, and our lottery protected 1st rounder this season, for Gordon."

Magic: "Throw in Smart and another pick and we'll give you Gordon and Fournier."

Celtics: "No."

Report: "Celtics and Magic discussing trade for Gordon and Fournier, talks include Smart and multiple 1st round picks"

We are less than 24 hours away from the trade deadline. Luckily for me, I have been bracing myself for the inevitable disappointment of Danny not making a trade. I'll continue to check for updates on this site, but I'm not expecting anything to actually happen.

Having Woj & Shams tweet alerts are always a bit of an emotional mindscrew this time of year.

You get an alert and you're all excited and its just Woj tweeting about a podcast he's appearing on or something like that.

So I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but there are rumors that the C's could trade for Gordon and then add Drummond too in the buyout market. The logic is, the C's would trade one of their bigs (Thompson or Theis) away, and while Gordon helps at PF, you add a guy like Drummond to also fill a hole in the frontcourt and so your frontcourt rotation is Gordon, 1 of Theis/Thompson, Timelord, Drummond.

Presumably the C's would trade two of their bigs in this scenario since they're going to a one-big lineup.  This would actually be great, as ideally they could get some number of assets to send to Orlando as part of a Gordon acquisition, and also not need to use their Hayward TPE to acquire Gordon's salary.

Funny, based upon the “if you trade recently signed free agents, nobody will deal with you” reasoning:

Quote
Jake Fischer: Of note regarding the Kyle Lowry-Lakers rumors: It seems Los Angeles became open to discussing all of Dennis Schroder, Montrezl Harrell and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope with rival teams as of Monday night, and that chatter has not since quieted among league executives. – via Twitter JakeLFischer

Of course, Klutch clients are just disposable assets that can be moved around for the benefit of LeBron.

This is one I’m not worried about. No way Celts have interest in Drummond, in my opinion. But who knows!

Do we want to become involved in on shroeeder ? We can offer some asset to Toronto and extend Schroeder at normal price. He can be good for the Js streaky shooter tho and a little bit of an a hole but not like his idol Rondo. lol

Sure, let's keep that 3 center rotation so we can limit Rob Williams to < 18 minutes a game. ****.

I would like Sabonis but I would also like Brogdon?  Smart for Brogdon?
I think Brogdon is a good player but the problem is that it is Smart at about $14M or Brogdon at about $22M.

To keep Smart won't we have to pay him that much?

Maybe Danny needs him to complete his 2010's Pistons bingo card.

I think this actually has real value as too many of our centres all do the same thing and in turn all have the same weaknesses. Just look at that Memphis game, it was ours if we had a dominant or capable rebounder and physical presence in the paint. I’m sure Drummond will be a short term rental but could be huge in the playoffs in the right matchup.
