So I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but there are rumors that the C's could trade for Gordon and then add Drummond too in the buyout market. The logic is, the C's would trade one of their bigs (Thompson or Theis) away, and while Gordon helps at PF, you add a guy like Drummond to also fill a hole in the frontcourt and so your frontcourt rotation is Gordon, 1 of Theis/Thompson, Timelord, Drummond.
Sure, let's keep that 3 center rotation so we can limit Rob Williams to < 18 minutes a game. ****.
You're basically trading Thompson for a cheaper, younger, bigger version who we can play 15 mins a night. I don't see how that makes RWill's situation worse, and if anything we have less commitment to playing Drummond than Thompson. I say Thompson because the salary works better, Theis is more able to guard the perimeter and shoot the occasional 3, and Drummond gives you the same #1 skill of offensive rebounding.
Assuming we trade Thompson, Langford and picks(s) for Gordon, then sign Drummond.
starters: Walker / Brown / Tatum / Gordon / Williams
rotation: Pritchard, Teague, Smart, Theis, Drummond
deep bench: Nesmith, GWilliams, Ojeyele, Edwards, Green, Waters, Fall
Now if you can somehow cobble together another deal for a rental (Fournier or Powell) that would be somethin'.
