I'm not holding my breath that Danny pulls off a trade. He has gone too many years without making a move at the deadline, which has been beyond frustrating.

This team is becoming unlikeable and almost unwatchable. If the TV ratings are down, I wonder if ownership puts pressure on Danny to shake up the roster.

I'm just not sure if a trade deadline move is significant enough to help this team. What possible move could they make to contend with the Nets and Bucks (never mind the 76ers or Heat), just to get out of the East?

Well, when was the last time the team underperformed this bad where a shake up was needed?

I'm thinking that the main movement we're going to see at the trade deadline is Thompson shipped out of town for an expiring contract of some kind, with a young player or a lesser pick included as enticement.

I could see Thompson being traded, but not if we’re giving up something to move him.  We have no reason to move him right now if that’s the only move we make.

We know there is Gordon and Collins chatter plus I have seen rumors that the Bulls are listening on Markkanen
 https://www.blogabull.com/2021/3/23/22346566/nba-trade-rumors-bulls-listening-on-lauri-markkanen-offers

and that Indiana may be discussing trading Sabonis
https://clutchpoints.com/pacers-rumors-indiana-not-ruling-out-blowup-with-trade-stance-malcolm-brogdon-domantas-sabonis/

I also heard that Siakam was fined so maybe they are thinking about moving on from him.

Here are all the potential big options that have been rumored as available in one form or another (which I know, doesn't necessarily mean all that much), their age and approximate average salary for the next few years.  Even if all these are not really available, it provides some context to those that may be.

Sabonis       23     $20M
Vucevic       30      $22M
JGrant         28     $20M
Gordon        25     $17M
Markkanen   23     $?? (RFA)
Collins         23     $?? (RFA)
Siakam        26     $34M

Siakam is too rich and probably not all that available but a swap for Kemba would work.  The Gordon trade possibility has been beaten to death and to a large degree, so has Collins.  Collins and Markkanen could be gotten this year without going over the tax likely but then we do need to sign them to lord knows how much.  Vucevic and JGrant are likely not available and maybe a little older than ideal for us.  Sabonis is a surprising name to come up but it did.

Outgoing, we have Kemba and Smart that seem to be in play plus picks.  I hope there is a combination that lands us one of these guys.  I have said a few times that I actually like Kemba for Markkanen and Porter.  I also like Kemba for Gordon and Fournier or Smart for Collins and Bogdanovic.  (assuming some picks or young players are needed in most cases).  I would do Kemba for Siakam of course but not sure why Toronto would.

Lots of interesting "size that can shoot" options here.  I hope one goes down.

If we could somehow wrangle one of the All-NBA (or borderline) talents in Siakam, Sabonis or Vucevic I would be over the moon

What do you think?  Some source that nobody has heard of breaking a major trade before everyone else?  Danny giving up several pics and prospects for an unrestricted free agent?

He also indicates that we are putting out feelers regarding trading Tatum.  Pretty much every single thing this idiot has ever posted doesn’t even make sense.

ding ding ding lol

maybe once in a blue moon someone other than the usual break a major news

But this is not it

That is a silly offer btw.  Derozan wouldn't be worth more than a protected 1st,  Grant Williams and a 2nd imo

Got me a little jolt there.  I like Derozan a lot.  If this were the first of a few moves I’d have been pretty happy.

Impulse post - I wasn’t really looking at what supposedly we were giving up.

That would be an awesome deal for DeRozan if he were to stick around.

Also San Antonio basically never makes in-season trades.

The 76ers remain interested in acquiring Raptors guard Kyle Lowry, and rookie guard Tyrese Maxey is among the assets available as part of a trade package, league sources told HoopsHype. Maxey has shown flashes of potential, including a 39-point game in January against the Nuggets.

This would make sense for both teams I think.  Also:

Quote
Miami, the other frontrunner to acquire Lowry, had a starting offer of Goran Dragic, Kelly Olynyk, and Kendrick Nunn, as HoopsHype reported. Since then, Duncan Robinson, a restricted free agent who is considered the top shooter available this offseason, has emerged as a potential candidate to be included in the Lowry trade. – via Michael Scotto @ HoopsHype
