OK, so if Smart gets us Reddish and Collins, are we doing it?  I think we are!  May not be able to keep Collins in the off season, but Reddish is signed for a couple of more.
Collins is a RFA. We do that if we like him.

I do that deal 100%

Why do we want Reddish?
young prospect that could improve.  I'm sure we'll be sending out another body with Smart if this deal actually happens so probably making the body count even out for roster purposes too.

It just makes no sense to me.  The argument as I understand it is we're trading Smart because in two off-seasons he'll be a free agent that we might not want to pay.  So instead, we get a player who is a free agent this summer whom his current team doesn't want to pay, and will likely command $7-10 million more a year than Smart.  So we might let him walk?  Or we'll overpay him even more than Smart?

And then we also get a wing who's a former lottery pick and can't shoot, because Romeo Langford isn't already that?

And we also get four bigs on our roster a week after our coach made the decision to only use one-big lineups?

I don't see how this deal would in any way benefit the Celtics in either the short term or the long-term.

Not confident Danny will make a big move

Would anybody be surprised if all he ends up doing is...

To OKC:  Edwards,  2nd round pick
To Celtics: Muscala

I'll be shocked if anything happens.

But Danny replied last week...  8)

Quote
Asked by co-host Rich Shertenlieb what he would say to the fans as an explanation in case the Celtics don’t make any moves ahead of the deadline, Ainge said that he would “address that next week, and just see what happens and see what opportunities come on.”

“This is the week where the heat gets turned up, the people that want to make deals get a little more serious about deals and we’ll see,” Ainge explained. “I think that’s probably a conversation we should put off until next week.

Hey, I heard that we're really close on a deal this year and just waiting for the last few pieces to fall into place....

 ;D ;D ;D

I don't, he shoots like 37%  from the field and 26% from the trey line.  Horrible shooting.  He would probably be an upgrade over Grant though but who isn't.

I much rather have Huerter but I doubt we would get Collins and Huerter for Smart.

Collins is the best player in the trade you still might have to do it.   But he does not play defense and your giving up one of our best on D.

I would do that deal.   Next priority would be to deal Mr. Poor Production though Grant Williams.

Why do we want Reddish?

Because Jeff Green isn't available.

Injury-prone big man who doesn't play defence? Sounds right up Detroit's alley! Shocked they didn't take him :P

Bagley is discount John Collins. I really think he will be a productive players eventually, and he is a potential buy-low candidate right now. He's not the media darling buy-low candidate whom everyone likes. He's a legit buy-low candidate no one likes right now.

This Bane guy is pretty good. Too bad we don't get the chance to draft shooters like that.

Sources: Aaron Gordon has put the Boston Celtics near the top of the list of teams he would like be traded to. Celtics and Magic remain engaged in trade talks. Boston has moved to Gordon as their primary target three days from the trade deadline.

League sources indicate Orlando would like two first round picks and a young player for Gordon. Magic are ideally looking for a wing, as a potential replacement for pending free agent Evan Fournier.

Boston sees Aaron Gordon as a player who can help them return to the "switch everything" defenses they have been most successful with under Brad Stevens. Celtics like the idea of a closing defensive group featuring Gordon with Smart, Tatum, Brown and either Theis or R. Williams.

It's Keith Smith, so take it with a grain of salt. But it does seem to track with everything else coming out.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.
