Is Aaron Gordon any good though?  I had high hopes for him when he was drafted but he seems more interested in being Tobias Harris than being Shane Battier, despite the latter being a much more valuable and natural type of role for him.

Has been on a team that would allow him to play that 4th option type of role?

I mean I think the Magic could have really used a guy who elevates the players around him.  But they have also lacked a lead playmaker / scorer and have inconsistent floor spacing.

Maybe Aaron Gordon would have turned into a very different player if he'd been drafted by a different team.  Is it realistic to expect him to drastically change the way he plays at this point?

I view it as a possibility rather than as something you can depend on.

That is why I described him as something of a reclamation project. He is not a sure thing (to elevate his game). He has significant flaws to overcome.

Which effects the price Ainge should be willing to pay. You pay less for something when there is less chance of it panning out.

Between young, Gordon, and Barnes (and a host of others that aren’t perfect fits but could be helpful) I think there are just too many good veteran wings available right now that may not be later. I think those teams bring their price down because of market quantity and ainge can get one of them.

I think ainge gets another piece this deadline.

I have the opposite expectation. There were reports about lots of teams looking for 3/4 types of players and not enough of these players being available. So I am expecting a high price tag and that Ainge will be unable to get one at a price he is willing to pay.

Not confident Danny will make a big move

Would anybody be surprised if all he ends up doing is...

To OKC:  Edwards,  2nd round pick
To Celtics: Muscala

I'll be shocked if anything happens.

But Danny replied last week...  8)

Quote
Asked by co-host Rich Shertenlieb what he would say to the fans as an explanation in case the Celtics don’t make any moves ahead of the deadline, Ainge said that he would “address that next week, and just see what happens and see what opportunities come on.”

“This is the week where the heat gets turned up, the people that want to make deals get a little more serious about deals and we’ll see,” Ainge explained. “I think that’s probably a conversation we should put off until next week.

OK, so if Smart gets us Reddish and Collins, are we doing it?  I think we are!  May not be able to keep Collins in the off season, but Reddish is signed for a couple of more.

Collins is a RFA. We do that if we like him.

I do that deal 100%

You are asking the right question! Lots of athletic ability but it hasn’t translated on the court. ATL is shopping for wings because they’re not impressed.

young prospect that could improve.  I'm sure we'll be sending out another body with Smart if this deal actually happens so probably making the body count even out for roster purposes too.

There's no doubt he's been terrible this year. Bad play plus an achilles injury is a bad combo.

However, I think we got a glimpse of what he can do post-ASB last year. Averaged 16PPG off the bench on good efficiency and lots of perimeter shooting. I think he'd be an immediate upgrade for our bench.

I don’t see why Atlanta trades Collins now for small return. If he does well in the playoffs they can sign and trade him for a mugh better return. If he doesn’t do wel they can resign him on a reasonable contract. If he does bad and someone offers him the max then they lose him for nothing ... but nothing versus an average player they have in case they trade him is debatable.
I think Atlanta stays pat
