The Celtics remain engaged in Aaron Gordon talks, but it’s the Denver Nuggets, according to league sources, who’ve now emerged as the leading candidate to acquire Gordon from Orlando, with a package centered around Gary Harris:
Wouldn't surprise me at all to see Danny outbid by a weaker deal from Denver because he's too infatuated with Smart

If you’re Orlando, would you really take Gary Harris + young prospect over Smart and two firsts?

I would be sick if we gave up that much for Aaron Gordon.

Smart for Gordon straight up.
or
TPE + two firsts for Gordon.

Not both Smart and two firsts. One or the other.

I think Smart + two firsts is actually for AG and Fournier.

I know its been discussed before but Shams just retweeted this a few min ago.  We could see ourselves a nice little bidding war here.

A bidding war for all three of these franchises means an underpay from our Boston perspective. I'm clearly bitter!

Amazing that all these other teams are able to add really good bench help for cheap (only giving up 2nd rounders and/or the equivalents of "Carsen Edwards" on their teams), yet Ainge never makes these kinds of trades  ::)

In the past 5-6 years, we could have benefitted from that, yet all Ainge has done in that span is add Greg Monroe off the buyout market (using the Hayward injury exception). And again, look at what most of these other teams are giving up. I don't think many of them have to give up first rounders or really good players to do it either.

I would separate that deal into two parts: The A.Gordon part and the Fournier part.

Above I said, Smart for A.Gordon or TPE & two 1sts for A.Gordon. Not both but one or the other.

For Fournier, he is worth only a 2nd round pick or low end youth (C.Edwards, G.Williams types). He is an expiring contract so he is not worth a 1st round pick given the risk that he may walk away this summer. Otherwise, he would be worth one 1st but not more.

So Smart & two 1sts is a massive overpay for A.Gordon and Fournier. I do not like that trade package.

Ainge continues to stay slightly above mediocre and only strikes when he can take advantage of a desperate GM. We are in this situation EVERY year for the past 5-6 years. The opportunity to trade in-season to get better is what Ainge is terrified of doing.

So does that mean they are out of the AG bidding war?  Probably not.

Reported that very few teams other than the C's have expressed interest in Vucecic. This really surprises me and he is my #1 target.

Maybe other teams his price is too high or simply just unattainable? Maybe I just over value him or the impact he would have on this team?

He's a big salary, and his role is harder to fit into a team midseason.  Multipositional guys like Aaron Gordon are much easier to slot into a rotation on the fly.  If you're a contender, you probably already have a starting center, and if you don't, you probably don't have $20-25 million in salary that you can readily move to take him in.

agreed.

a deal for Vucevic would either require Smart with TT or just Kemba for salary purposes and it's no guarantee Vucevic comes close to solving any of our issues since he's not switchable on D nor does he help really facilitate on offense.  he certainly would provide an offensive option other than 3's but since he's always around the basket, that's likely to clog up things around the basket preventing our wings from driving to the basket.

Disagree here. I don't think Vucevic gets enough credit for his passing or his floor spacing. He facilitates a lot of things for Orlando. He is the reason why they were able to play Markelle Fultz (non-shooting PG) and have some success. He is the reason why they were able to play Isaac and A.Gordon together despite their offensive dysfunction. Vucevic has keeping that Orlando offense together and competitive for the last few years. He has been the best passer on the team and often their 2nd best shooter after Fournier.

Vucevic's high post play as both a passer and as a shooter is integral to Orlando's offense and it would be huge for our offense.

I'd trade Smart and TT for Vuc in a second before trading Smart and whatever else for Gordon. For whatever its worth.
