I will say this, traditionalists like my dad will really like the fact that Kanter is a big man with traditional center size who grabs rebounds and takes almost all of his shots inside five feet.

I'm genuinely not sure how the Celts are going to have a league average defense this year, though.

Awesome news considering the players that were available for the room exception. It's gonna be a bit rough when we play in Toronto, though...

We need to go all out to avoid that first round matchup

Can we get the 4th seed and hope Toronto and Milwaukee are the 2/3 seeds?  :o

That would probably mean Philly would be the #1 seed, David vs Goliath. But at least Horford is theor only real shooter  8)

Gotta be one of the best value contracts in the league.
It's going to be a one year deal in all likelihood.  He's trying to get his value up and has the option so if he plays well he'll opt out and test the market next summer.

But this is good for everyone.

Not a fan of this. The dude is a bad defender. He'll be unplayable against teams like Philly and Milwaukee. Would have rather had pretty much any other big man that was talked about on this forum (like Looney, Noel, Dedmon, Cauley-Stein, ect.).
2023 No Top 75 Fantasy Draft Los Angeles Clippers
PG: Dennis Johnson / Jo Jo White / Stephon Marbury
SG: Sidney Moncrief / World B. Free
SF: Chris Mullin / Ron Artest
PF: Detlef Schrempf / Tom Chambers / Buck Williams

I'd take Tysons Chandler just to mentor RWIII, but we'll need someone that can play at least 20 mpg occasionally (for injuries/Kanter not being able to go to Toronto)
I'm bitter.

Ugh, reminds me a lot of Greg Monroe. I wasn't a fan of Monroe when he was playing for the C's.

Don't like the fit next to the rest of our starters.

Kemba - Brown - Hayward - Tatum - Kanter

Only guy who's an above average defender is Brown.

Anyway, I guess it's a good deal in terms of value for money. Hope we sign a defensive center as well. Chances are that R. Williams ain't ready to contribute just yet.

I don't think any of those guys was a real option for the little $$ the Celts can offer.

The Celtics need to wait a year to have the full MLE to offer.

BTW, I think he may skip games in Toronto, because of his issues with Erdogan (which i respect him for).

imo non issue

Why would Canada help Erdogan?

Kanter travelled to Toronto the seasons prior to last

That’s all the C’s need out of him. I assumed he would be get at least double his current salary.

That was before Turkey put out a warrant for him. He even said in the WCF that he wouldn't travel to Toronto if they played them in the finals (unless he at least had assurance from Trudeau that he wouldn't be extradited)
I'm bitter.

Important:

Quote from: Dangercart
My opinion of Kanter is that he and Yabu can be packaged together for a player making up to $12,884,240 mid-season
