Yes, his D is not great, BUT when was the last time we had a Center as good as Kanter on O?
Last year.
nope.
Passing and shooting are a bit part of offense. But okay. He certainly shot more often than Horford per minute.

Screening too - though honestly I don't know much about Kanter in that regard.  Is he at least decent?
I dunno about the regular season, but he set some hilariously illegal but effective playoff screens when I watched Portland play. He's a big guy and didn't seem to shy from trying to catch a body.

Hilariously illegal screens that don't get called are extremely my jam.  Good. Guess I was overapplying the lousy D.
flashbacks to KGs screens lol

Well I've been Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing non-stop so I'm not gonna complain lol. I'll take Kanter, would like another big that can defend better but at least Kanter can bang with anyone, he's a hard nose guy!!

I don't think either is taking the minimum.

The Celtics defense next year is gonna be ... an adventure, to say the least.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Kanter range should expand under CBS.  He is a solid FT shooter. And look at the 3 pt form below. Looks good

BTW, I think he may skip games in Toronto, because of his issues with Erdogan (which i respect him for).

I mean he certainly is a good offensive player, just very different than Horford. Provides some post scoring though he's not great at it.

What the C's will appreciate the most on O will probably be put backs and simple kick out threes off his offensive boards and rim run buckets.

Definitely. Comparable to current Al in overall offensive effectiveness. To oversimplify it we lose a lot of ball movement and improvisation and gain some post play + rim dives and a lot more 2nd chances. I won't talk about the defense at this juncture  :-X

Gotta be one of the best value contracts in the league.

Yeah, I understand he isn't going to set the world on fire, but he is only 27 and puts up really solid numbers. The offensive rebounding will be refreshing, for sure. I get that he isn't Horford or even Randle, but the value is certainly there compared to those two.

I said it before, but the biggest problem with the contract is it essentially only for one year. I suppose if he really fit in here, we could use the full non-taxpayer MLE on him next year for a longer term situation, but it really would have been relieving to have him locked up for two years.

Awesome news considering the players that were available for the room exception. It's gonna be a bit rough when we play in Toronto, though...

We need to go all out to avoid that first round matchup
I'm bitter.
