So from what I understand, Kanter has defensive issues.  Can anyone elaborate on that issue?  What is Kanter not so good at?

Lateral agility.

Yes, his D is not great, BUT when was the last time we had a Center as good as Kanter on O?
Last year.

So man on man and pick and role on guards then?  What about strength.  Can he at least hold up against bigger guys?

I love how people are complaining. Is he perfect? No. But we don't have money for Perfect center

He also doesn't good angles given his speed limitations. Baynes wasn't the quickest either, but he was very good at being early or taking the best angle possible.

This is a fantastic get for the price. He has serious flaws, but his strengths (rebounding, offensive rebounding, scoring) are near elite. At the very least, Kanter/ Theis/ Williams covers a lot of possible matchups.

Oh jeez... here comes the crazy train. All aboard.

He was 5th in total rebound % and 1st in offensive rebound %. That's near elite for sure.  Scoring...not so much unless you're talking about the specific limited kinds of scoring he does. But near elite or even elite isn't hyperbolic for his rebounding at all.

Player option year 2, chance to play with a good offensive team, he'll start and will play for a coach who will maximize his skills. Good deal for all involved.

Yes he can handle big guys, he's rather strong. Though Embiid will cook him with his footwork/agility to get the advantage.

well rebounding is part of def as far as I am concerned.  yeah he might be slow as a turtle but at least he has size and goes after the boards.   This seems like about the best would could expect for the money we had available.

Kanter is good value. He can rebound and score. They need some more D inside.

2 years 10m is a steal. He may average 20 rpg here!
