Thing is even if Hayward returns to form, he'll opt out and hit FA again in a weak FA year.

So the even that scenario doesn't have much upside.

I think right now the plan has to be play Hayward a bunch to start this next season, hope he puts up like 20 ppg on good efficiency, then try to trade him at the deadline for any kind of return.


Plan now is to be young and mostly bad.  Let Tatum and Brown take their lumps being the centerpieces.


The team is going to struggle A LOT without Horford.  It's going to be rough.


No way out of it but to just bear down and move forward straight through it.

Danny is hauling off and destroying the entire team. He doesn't deserve the chance to oversee another rebuild. He either corrects the ship and retains our Stars, or he leaves. I hope Wyc realizes this.

Danny brought this team a championship after a 22-year drought. He's a top-5 GM who, as recently as last fall, had amassed a treasure trove of assets that was the envy of the league. Stop being a prisoner of the moment and see how this all plays out.

1 title in 16 years as GM. He hasn't drafted a single player outside of Rondo (draft night trade) who has made an All Star team. He fleeced a desperate Brooklyn team and came away with two prospects who may or may not be stars.

His resume isn't anywhere near as impressive as it's propped up to be. Especially considering that McHale gift wrapped us KG.

I'm not attached to Danny Ainge. His tenture here has been overated.

We need stars. Not asset accumulation and college coaches, who transition to the NBA with a college mentality.

The Clippers have a much better infrastructure.

The Celts are going to be significantly less enjoyable to watch without Horford.  He just did so many things on the court.  Definitely my favorite Celtic the past few years.

How exactly do people think Boston is going to get Beal? For Hayward and picks?

To get Beal it would cost Tatum or Brown

@Fierce1 seems to think that if we offer the #14 pick with Hayward that Washington would listen. I think it's very unlikely personally, I think we need to at least offer the Memphis pick too, if not more. Hayward is seen as damaged goods right now, an albatross contract.

I used to think that but I think he was a fringe max player to begin with....

I wish him well but he is too redundant with Tatum and Brown in terms of positions.

Hayward was a bad signing at the time to satisfy Stevens.

Not really worth the contract and redundant with Brown on the roster and especially having drafted Tatum.

But at least we still have him! 

Still hope that Hayward succeeds for us. He's a very likeable guy and didn't deserve that horrible injury.

well, if Horford does leave, the C's are toast.  what a fall from presumed Eastern Conf champs this preseason to a team looking at missing the playoffs and back in rebuild mode the next. 

have to say, if Kyrie and Horford leave with no AD trade, Danny really needs to take the heat on this mess.  thought he was doing well as a GM but this past season and current offseason has been a real kick in the nuts for fans

Not a bad idea, per se. But we have Smart, Brown and Tatum, who we have to satisfy with their roles and results, so we have to be somewhat careful. Can't bring in someone like Wiggins (I know, not short term) and reestablish his value by letting him do his thing. But any interest in Gorgui Dieng, Chandler Parsons, Hassan Whiteside, Bismack Biyombo, Evan Turner, Timofey Mozgov, Tony Snell or Cristiano Felicio? 

Or we can go back on the overpay veterans for one year (Amir Johnson example) route.

I wonder if a Hayward deal could be made with Indy for Turner. I would give up a couple of our 1sts this year along with Hayward. I am sure he would have a great following there since he is from Indiana.

Then go and sign Russell. I could live with a Smart, Russell, Tatum, and Turner core going forward. I would also kick the tires on Josh Jackson since he seems to be available.

Not sure if we would have enough to keep Terry with the money saved in the Hayward/Turner deal, but that wouldn’t be much of a priority.

Sucks to lose big Al but i'm ready for the Timelord era to begin. He's going to lead the league in blocked shots if he starts. At the very least, he's highly entertaining.
