It feels like all this may hinge on Davis. If we get Davis I just don't see Kyrie leaving. Even if KD went to new York, would you (a 27 year old Kyrie) rather stay and team up with a 26 year old Anthony Davis or a 31 year old Kevin Durant? Seems like an easy choice especially given our other pieces would be far superior. If we don't get AD tho and you are clearly the best player on the team with a 33 yo Horford and a shell of Hayward waiting on young guys its a much harder call.
And while I think New York can make a very good offer for AD, certainly better than the Lakers, I still think we can beat it. The offer would have to include Tatum, MEM, SAC, LAC, a couple BOS firsts, SMART Or Hawyard, ect, but it could be done. The complicating factor is if NYK get #1 pick, then we may be in trouble. Even if you believe Tatum is a better prospect, and he may not be, the Zion hype factor will likely matter to NOP.
I will be watching the NBA lottery very closely.
