I get not wanting to risk AD as a rental.

But what changed with this PR push? When this thread started Rich Paul was saying the same thing lol.

I don't get being reactionary to the news of the day.
It's not as if Rich Paul is acting independently of Davis. He's Davis' mouthpiece. Rich Paul isn't telling you Davis doesn't want Boston, Anthony Davis is.
That's not how Rich Paul has operated, except for LeBron

Also, what's up with SI giving this man a platform? Absolutely nauseating.

He's the agent of LBJ/Draymond Green/Anthony Davis

He doesn't need SI to give him a platform, his clients give him his platform.

You guys act like being the next Lakers star and helping Lebron finish his career should be somehow less appealing than coming to a Boston team without Kyrie, Tatum and Smart.    LA is a better choice for Davis right now.

I really don’t understand the relationships between Rich Paul and AD. We all know Paul’s motivations. But isn’t it a red flag that AD has picked him as an agent and has stuck with him? If the Celtics trade for AD, his agent will be constantly in his ear advocating he leave at the end of the season. And I see no evidence to this point that AD either is independent enough to defy that advice, or that he’s not motivated by glitz and glamor.

This is the problem. AD may be an elite talent akin to KG when we traded for him a decade ago, but most signs aren’t pointing to him being the same in terms of his priorities. And given the change in the CBA since then, which makes it virtually impossible to extend superstars before risking them leaving as free agents (KG was extended with 2 years left on his deal), these types of factors are more important than ever.

They literally wrote an article about him titled "The King Maker: Rich Paul Will Own the NBA Summer."

Keep one thing in mind. The Lakers and the Knicks sound wonderful to Davis a year out, with any number of imagined moves that will somehow turn them from disasters into contenders. Its all theoretical, and it all sounds like a chance to create a super team in a premier market.

The problem is that LeBron will be 35 by then and both teams will still have terrible management, and most of this theoretical stuff will not materialize. The summer of 2020 will come and Davis will be staring at reality.

These franchises would have to have a lot go right for them to be appealing at the point of decision next year, and their recent record of failures indicates that is unlikely.

that's a very biased view.   as soon as ad and lebron team up, the lakers are contenders.   after lebron leaves,  ad and another couple guys are contenders.   it's Los Angeles, man.    they won't stay bad for long.

Except they have stayed bad for a long time. The Lakers have been absolutely awful since Buss passed. They were a lotto team with LeBron freakin James. Even the Cavs weren't that bad! If even Woj is saying the Lakers aren't a consideration for top-tier free agents why are you so confident that they'll somehow be good once LeBron is done?

But why will Lebron wait a whole season?   Why waste what could be one of his last prime years?

I still think NOP will demand all of Hart, Kuzma, Ingram, Lonzo and #4 in a trade. Nothing short of that. So it'll still cost LAL a ton. But I think if it's not Boston, they'll find a way to get it done with the Knicks in some sort of 3-team deal.

it's a legit point.

i'm mostly just trying to ask why people act like there is some great appeal for Davis to go to Boston without Kyrie,  Tatum and even Smart.  What is the great lure of Boston over LA?   Haven't the Lakers won it more recently than the Celtics?

i also heard lonzo for the 6th pick and the rest of that package.    that's a pretty good haul.    3 of the top 6 picks in this draft plus at least Ingram.

I'm REALLY hoping to hear that Kyrie and AD are a no-go for the Cetlics soon so that we can actually start building the team with a definitive direction rather than being held hostage by these star players who want to play for other teams.

This let's gamble on a stat filler to scramble to try to win a championship before they leave thing is not a great way to go IMO.

I sort of feel bad for DA since he's been fixated on Davis for years now but I just don't think that it's going to work out.
