Hope DA still plays the game just to make sure the Lakers or Knicks are paying a very high price for AD.

his right under the current collective bargaining agreement.
Uh actually its not, that's why his agent is throwing fireballs and they are constantly working the media news cycle to try and steer him where they want him to go.

Its certainly working on the twitter feed today though!
I amended what I said.  He can be traded to the Celtics but his leverage is telling them he'll be a rental. And he's using that leverage.  He's making it clear he really doesn't want to play for the Celtics - which also tells me Ainge has been talking to the Pelicans.

I'm in on a long term deal for Kyrie and Davis, but not a short team deal. I'd be very happy with Mike Conelly at PG and holding on to the young guys. (maybe sign a legit center too)

Davis was never coming here. Many deluded themselves into being convinced it would happen. He doesn't want to play in Boston - his right under the current collective bargaining agreement - unless the Celtics want to mortgage their future for a one year rental.  That's his leverage.

On the other hand he's also lowering his trade value which makes a trade for him less risky.
To a degree yes. But if he's saying it now he really doesn't want to play in Boston.

Just move on.

I feel an AD trade and a season with him is just going to be another circus here with the whole Rich Paul/Lebron/Lakers connection.

completely over it

Let me keep everyone and make a separate trade for a bigman elsewhere.

No more circus, just instead good strong celtics basketball

yikes...

That pretty much closes the thread. We can't afford to offer anything significant, and NYK and LAL will take that risk.

I get not wanting to risk AD as a rental.

But what changed with this PR push? When this thread started Rich Paul was saying the same thing lol.

I don't get being reactionary to the news of the day.

Rich Paul is delusional.

So the Lakers without LeBron are a good destination? Ok let's buy into this hypothetical. No LeBron, Lakers trade for Davis and gut their young core of Ball, Ingram, Kuzma. Their team is now:

Davis
Caldwell-Pope
Rondo
Muscala
Stephenson
Bullock
Wagner
Machado
Hart
McGee
Chandler
Bonga

What is left around him? Paul trying to say that this isn't about LeBron is absolute nonsense...

Make the trade anyways.

Call the agents bluff.   Really believe that Lebron will be happy staying with the Lakers if they are saving their assets/cap space for the following season.

Anyone really think Lebron is willing to wait?

Again, more garbage from this man's mouth. Absorb? Are teams just giving the Knicks All-Stars now? He's trying to say this isn't about big markets, but again he's full of it. Knicks' only tradition is losing.

TP.

This is the reason for the scorched earth campaign against everywhere that isn't LA/NY. LBJ isn't waiting around and they need to get him to LA, everything he does is to try and facilitate that. NY needs to be a threat because they actually can wait on their cap space unlike LA. Using NY as a threat to get him to LA.

Call it what you want, Davis does not want to be in Boston long term vs the idea of being in Los Angeles or NY, we can spin this a million ways but trading for him now makes zero sense to me unless we are looking for a hard push back to the lottery in 2020.

Once again, his agent works for Davis. It is apparent we are just not on his preferred list and he is once again trying to force his way to one of his top 2 preferred destinations. It is a pity for us but given what transpired with his friend Kyrie, why on earth would he consider staying with us long term.

I do not like the precedent of Agents forcing another team to trade with someone though. This is a bad look for the NBA and sucks for us as well. Oh well, we reap what we sow.

It's not as if Rich Paul is acting independently of Davis. He's Davis' mouthpiece. Rich Paul isn't telling you Davis doesn't want Boston, Anthony Davis is.
