Back to this done deal by the weekend stuff.  Who is saying that?

From what I'm gathering, it sounds like nobody *literally* reported this, but people are extrapolating this from Woj's reporting that NOLA wants it done soon and the Lakers needing it to happen due to their lackluster free agency outlook.

Thus - this "done deal by the weekend stuff" is fake news.

lol AD is telling everyone who'll listen he doesn't want to come to Boston, but some fans are so desperate they're still willing to throw Tatum away based on Paul George. Because hey, there was this one time where I guy stayed instead of going home.

Zero chance AD comes to Boston. I'm sure Win**** or Kyler or someone will throw the possibility out there in the next week and a half, but it ain't happening. Ainge would get fleeced nearly as bad as he did to Brooklyn. There's no way Ainge gets beat that badly in a trade.
I would love if you would provide the quotes where Davis actually said he didn't want to come to Boston. There has been reports of it from talking heads, but I haven't read direct quotes anywhere or seen video of such. When directly asked where he wanted to be he made some comment about wanting to be traded to any of the 29 other teams.

Yeah, I even saw a quote saying he'd consider resigning in Boston even with out Irving.

S&T Irving to Nets for Russel in a S&T back(if that can happen)

S&T Rozier for bench help

find the quote of davis saying he would sign with boston and post it.   if not,  i'm calling bs.

They are on my list

Quote from: David Aldridge
I’ve heard that Davis wouldn’t completely rule out staying with the Celtics without Irving, but the odds of him re-upping in that scenario are significantly lower.

i stand corrected.   all apologies.    the narrative seems to be different right now though.

I think that the narrative has been driven a lot more by Rich Paul than by AD himself

No worries, didn't have time to find the quotes, but Roy got the ones I was thinking. TP to Roy H

Davis has seemed to changed toon, but who knows were it's actually coming form. Could be his agent trying to help LEbum out, or he's just giving into LEbron and joining him.

It does worry me a bit, and would not over pay for sure. Maybe thats were the Capela talks came in along with now, Conley. C's looking to do something else.

The Brow to Boston. Let’s get it done DA! You have about a week left!

I’m convinced that regardless if kyrie signs here, landing AD with Hayward and Horford still makes us a contender. That’s gotta be the best frontcourt in the NBA right?

AD and Horford is definitely the best big duo in the league. Both can score from all 3 levels, defend the perimeter-bigs and inside, can help defend, and can pass. AD is obviously more talented, more athletic and younger, but that duo is nasty. Also would allow Horford to rest a lot.

I would think Hayward comes back to near-Utah form too. Just got a feeling that if he's a focal point of the offence (which I would assume with Kyrie, Tatum, Rozier and perhaps Morris gone) he'll come good.

KI and AD is not a shoe in to be NBA champs.

Especially in light of their tendency to get banged up and miss significant time.

These Finals should be a lesson in the importance of having a deep and well balanced supporting cast.
No scenario is a shoe in to win a title.  The question is whether pairing kyrie and Davis is the best move or not.  Frankly, I find the alternative to be rather bleak. If kyrie walks, as expected, we’re miles away from contention without an obvious path to being a contender even if Tatum and brown pan out. If neither becomes a star then we’re toast.

Ainge remains determined to do what he can to keep Irving, league sources tell SI.com, and the Celtics can still recruit Irving by vowing to do whatever it takes to bring Anthony Davis to Boston. The Celtics can still offer the strongest collection of players and draft picks, with Jayson Tatum the centerpiece of it.

[Charania] Several teams — including the Celtics — are aggressive about pursuing Davis understanding they would potentially lose him after one season...The Celtics want to pursue Davis and believe in their roster with or without Kyrie Irving...
u/SwaggyAddy
This was a part of the article Shams posted about AD narrowing his list down and only focusing on Lakers and Knicks. Ainge doesn't seem like he is giving up however and could take the AD gamble regardless of what Kyrie decides to do about his future.

I grow so tired of this AD drama.

I honestly couldnt care less if they trade for him. In fact at the rumored price I would rather not deal at all and keep all the youth amd picks that I know I have 100% control over for years as opposed to a single year of a player I am not sure can class as that elite superstar. Davis is good but he is not durant, Kawhi or Lebron. He cannot elevate a team sibglehandedly.

I find it funny how heavily I was debated on here earlier for proclaiming their assets being subpar

How on earth would Hayeard or should haywars ever be a focal point on offense?

If tatum is or isnt traded he should be the third option.

Davis ir tatum
Brown

Then Hayward.

Brown meeds to develop and is very important to the long term success of the team.

The only thing Jaylen did not do as well as Hayward recently is pass the ball. But hayward never got as good at passing as he is until he had the opportunity.

Jaylen right now is a better player than Hayward by a long shot, and comparing Jaylen to Hayward all star season is not far behind. Yes hayward shoots better(using Browns horrendous start to this past season its closer than one would think, taking those early games out and its even close) and passes better but Jaylen is equal to or exceeds everywhere else. And is far younger with alot more room for growth.

And tatum ir davis is a no brainer for why they should be the focal point if the offense ahead of hayward

Durant amd draymond
Harris and embiid
Gasol and siakam

Are all very talented front courts.

And even if they were when is the last time a frontcourt won a championship? Duncan and the spurs with tony parker and Kawhi winning the finals mvp?

Durant and Draymond is obviously irrelevant now.
Harris is worse than Horford and I think Embiid is a shade worse than Davis.
Gasol is comparable to Horford, but Davis is far better than Siakam.

You answered your own question. Typically the team that wins the championship has their best player as a front-court player in recent times, with an elite number two and an elite guard to balance the team. Durant with Dray and Curry (and Klay). LeBron with Love and Kyrie. Kawhi/Tim Duncan (both equally good) and Tony & Manu. LeBron with Bosh and Wade.

Davis with Horford and Brown & Hayward is an elite core.
