The Brow to Boston. Let’s get it done DA! You have about a week left!

I’m convinced that regardless if kyrie signs here, landing AD with Hayward and Horford still makes us a contender. That’s gotta be the best frontcourt in the NBA right?
AD and Horford is definitely the best big duo in the league. Both can score from all 3 levels, defend the perimeter-bigs and inside, can help defend, and can pass. AD is obviously more talented, more athletic and younger, but that duo is nasty. Also would allow Horford to rest a lot.

I would think Hayward comes back to near-Utah form too. Just got a feeling that if he's a focal point of the offence (which I would assume with Kyrie, Tatum, Rozier and perhaps Morris gone) he'll come good.
Durant amd draymond
Harris and embiid
Gasol and siakam

Are all very talented front courts.

And even if they were when is the last time a frontcourt won a championship? Duncan and the spurs with tony parker and Kawhi winning the finals mvp?
Durant and Draymond is obviously irrelevant now.
Harris is worse than Horford and I think Embiid is a shade worse than Davis.
Gasol is comparable to Horford, but Davis is far better than Siakam.

You answered your own question. Typically the team that wins the championship has their best player as a front-court player in recent times, with an elite number two and an elite guard to balance the team. Durant with Dray and Curry (and Klay). LeBron with Love and Kyrie. Kawhi/Tim Duncan (both equally good) and Tony & Manu. LeBron with Bosh and Wade.

Davis with Horford and Brown & Hayward is an elite core.

Maybe, I think that core needs a defensive stopper though, I think to have a chance it needs Smart. Also it needs a player that can be a true PG. (Conley?)
Conley
Brown
Hayward
Horford
Davis
with Smart off the bench is most likely a championship team (assuming Hayward can get back to 20-5-4)

what about:

Marcus Morris S&T (15 mill per), E'Twan Moore and Yabusele to OKC
(OKC wants toughness and shooting and needs a good PF, also gets very good shooting in Moore.)

Westbrook
Grant or Roberson
George
Morris
Adams

Schroeder, Ferguson, Tatum, picks 20,21,22 and a future Boston first for Davis
(get an established good young player, gets a potential superstar, gets 3 first rounders all in a bundle, another first rounder, and a sophmore in Ferguson

Schroeder
Jrue
Tatum
Zion
Randle resigned?

Boston adds Davis and keeps Smart

Smart
Brown
Hayward
Horford
Davis

(ideally can now try and work a way to turn Kyrie into Conley)
Right now Brooklyn has (if they renounce all free agent holds etc,)
35.8 mill in salary, which makes this all moot.

but

If they want to keep Russell then they have his caphold of 21+mill, bringing their total to 56.9 million.

In order to sign 2 max free agents they would need to save some money.

In comes Dinwiddie.

Kyrie S&T to Brooklyn for Dinwiddie and Musa
Dinwiddie, Mussa and Memphis first to Memphis
Conley to Boston

Conley
Brown
Hayward
Horford
Davis
6th Smart

I think Griffin wants to deal with Boston. I think they like Tatum and the Memphis pick more than anything else being offered.

I don’t think you need a defensive stopper in the Smart/Bradley/Tony Allen mold when you have solid defenders all around, plus a potential monstrous Horford/Davis tandem. That’s a formidable backline. Plus Brown is already an excellent defender... and Smart is likely out in an AD trade.

I actually think Smart has more value to a rebuilding team than a contender (though is certainly still valuable) - he can help set the tone and define the culture, provide leadership. Those traits are less effective when you have superstar talent in the locker room.

If they bring in Conley...he was all NBA defensive team in 2013...that would be a massive upgrade on Kyrie who was a sieve.

Agreed. I think they've identified that Tatum is the best single asset the can get for AD. (barring a dark horse offer team's not typically mentioned)

The question is he on the table given the Kyrie situation?  Or if he is on the table is the rest of the package what he wants?

In a SI piece today Rich Paul said Boston can trade for AD but it is only a one year deal and why waste the players/picks. He also referred to himself in third person.

Here is the thing: Rich Paul is a little turd that has gotten this far in life on the coattails of Lebron James.

And I understand his quote is basically trying to scare off Ainge in order to have the Lakers as the only team out there Davis is traded to...satisfying his daddy Lebron.

He's been saying the same thing since the trade demand. It is notable he put himself in print with a direct quote though.

In the third person no less. It’s definitely a flex. If the Cs call their bluff and still trade for him, does anyone believe the Lakers will just wait until next year for him?

Conley is 32. Guards tend to age faster in NBA.

Did anyone watch him much last season? He looked decent versus Boston but that was extent of my scouting him.

What does he think his options will be though?  The lakers can't punt another season this late in Lebron's career so they will have to put their cap space to work.  Knicks will have space but I don't really buy that he wants to go there (I think they were thrown in to imply he has big market desires).  I get if he want to be in LA for, among other reasons, I think he has a kid who lives there.  I just don't see it happening if he doesn't get traded there this summer.

Problem is AD will have this guy (that he trusts) whispering in his ear all season long about where to go as a free agent.
If Ainge trades for AD I hope he have a long discussion with AD beforehand and make sure we have a reasonable chance to resign him.

Averaged 21 points last year in 70 games. 6.4 assists and 36 percent from three. Played more games than Kyrie. Boston could do a lot worse replacing him.

I forgot Rich Paul was his agent. If Davis had any other agent, I would make the trade. However, LeBron got Rich Paul where he is today, so Rich will do anything to help LeBron, including getting Davis in a Lakers uniform, while LeBron is still playing.

The other question is will Davis be willing to take that $50 million or so pay cut by leaving the team that trades for him, in order to go to the Lakers in one year? LeBron may be Rich Paul's binkie, but Davis has to sign that contract and take the risk.

Biggest concern is James is the hand that feed little Rich Paul. Paul is going to make sure James gets what he wants. This has been the case in Cleveland (both times) and now in LA. And in the end really destroyed both teams chemistry and futures. Also has helped to blow up the Pels.

Can Ainge do enough to keep AD in Boston. Did not work with Kyrie and losing Smart, Tatum and high picks for a rental would be really tough for the Cs going forward.
