My phone is blowing up right now.  I called it right after the trade -- potentially souring AD on our treatment of IT, Kyrie being an overrated tool.  All of it.

What Davis or his father thinks at this point is irrelevant.  We can't even trade for this guy until Summer and we're going to be seeing plenty of anti-Celtic propaganda to try to force the Pelicans to move him before the deadline.  Come Summer - diff story.

All this anti-Kyrie crap and anti-Celtic crap is pushing a narrative with a goal of getting Boston to publicly concede and/or the Pelicans to just bite the bullet and make a trade this week.  Since this mainly is a 2-horse race between Boston and the Lakers, and Boston wants to postpone the race several months, they are just trying to get us to drop out so Davis can move on.

That’s the first thing the Lakers have put out that actually gives them leverage. Ainge will not trade for someone that truly doesn’t want to come. If AD shares his dads view that throws a wrench into things.

I'm at the point where I could care less if Davis wants to come to Boston.  I've always been okay with the idea of moving forward with Irving, Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Horford, and Smart.

I’m okay with it too.  Unfortunately it’s probably not enough.

Maybe not right away but there's plenty of reason to be optimistic about the team becoming a title contender with the current.  Assuming he re-signs, Irving has at least 5 more season of peak basketball.  Hopefully Hayward can return to form next season and Tatum + Brown will continue to improve.  We also have plenty of draft picks to make additional moves.

The thing about the Isaiah trade though, dude's only played 32 games and averaged only 15ppg since the trade.  Nowhere near the 2nd-team All-NBA player who averaged 29ppg in Boston.  While Irving on the other hand has played 103 games and counting and is a 2x All-Star since the trade.

Looking back with what we know now, every owner, GM, coach, analyst, water boy, and player in the league, probably even Isaiah himself would make that trade.

His dad isn’t wrong about the loyalty part, and Davis made comments about the IT trade at the time.

At the same time, the Pelicans have been nothing but loyal to Davis, and we see where that’s gotten them.

As I mentioned above, I really don't think it's fair to compare the two.  Davis has put in the better part of 7 season with the Pelicans.  It's better that he asks for a trade instead of bailing during unrestricted free agency.  I really can't blame him for wanting to move on. 

The IT situation was an entirely different scenario because of his injury.  IT basically recruited two free agents for nothing.

?? I don't see how it's any different. If his dad thinks the team has to be loyal to its players, then that has to be reciprocated by the players to the team, too, which isn't what AD is demonstrating by his trade request. You can't have it both ways.

Danny did nothing wrong. Hell, Danny sent him to the reigning Eastern Conference champs to play with one of the greatest players of all time. People act like Danny dumped him on a lottery team.

I agree with all of your points.  However that doesn't mean that people are wrong for feeling upset about how the IT trade went down.  I keep going back to the fact that IT was instrumental in the recruitment of Horford, and to a less degree Hayward.  Hindsight makes the Celtics look somewhat sketchy when it comes to his hip injury.

Exactly. If people don't think this is yet another scripted move after everything we've seen thus far, I'm not sure what to tell you. This has been one hit job after another orchestrated by Paul and Lebron, likely with Davis' reluctant agreement.

Ainge is being punished for being good at his job here. It is what it is. Loyalty is a two way street and nobody cares about it until it gives them excuse for something. So your son could win multiple championships but you won’t want to go there because of something that happened two years ago? The NBA is such a circus.

I think every situation is different.  AD said and did all of the right things for the past 7 years.  His agent is an idiot, but it would have been worse for AD to bail during unrestricted free agency.

I'm not saying that Ainge did anything wrong.  I just think some of us forget how awful the string of events was for IT a few years ago.  At face value I can understand why people would feel negatively about the trade.
