  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I wonder if that makes Jrue available?
He is having a good season and can help a lot of playoff teams.

I think they should. Just go on a full fledged rebuild and tank this season.

I mean, why keep him at this point if AD is leaving? And don't stop with Jrue, find takers for Julius Randle, E'twaun Moore and Nikola Mirotic as well.

Trade Kyrie and whatever for Davis. Do it now.

Not happening.

The intention is pairing Kyrie with Davis.  Not trading one away for the other.

Kyrie is replaceable. Davis is not.

Oh yeah?  Who are you replacing Kyrie with & pairing with AD and becoming a bonafide championship contender?

This a star driven league.  Multi-star teams are the ones winning championships.  You pair Kyrie & AD and build around that.    Ainge isn't shipping Kyrie out of town to bring in AD.

Can someone please inform me about Al's contract. Does he have one more year on it? How can they afford Al, Davis, Hayward and Kyrie all at once?

I know Davis doesn't have max money until he resigns in a year..

We just pay the tax. Which would be expensive, but ownership is on record saying they'd pay the tax for a contender.

So I am guessing Davis and Al are UFA at the same time and Boston resigns Davis and Al walks. No chance of keeping both past next season.

Oh we would reach pretty crazy levels of luxury tax, but the assumption here is to try to get Al to opt out this offseason for a longer deal with a lower average annual so his number could drop by about $10M, which will be offset by Kyries supermax raise.

Then probably pay Morris and add a few vets, it will be very costly. But possible.

I do not think you give up both young wings. Prefer it be Brown. But this is the plan AD and James hatched back when James was tampering with him.

Makes no sense to come out and say he wants a trade unless it is to make the Lakers move now because they know if they wait until summer, they do not have a good chance.

It was to but them ahead of Boston.

I mean, yeah, the entire point of this is to try and get something done now, likely to the Lakers. But, again, it's not AD making the decision - it's NOLA. There's no reason for them to acquiesce to this request right now.

Yep.

Only way they trade AD now is if their camp comes out and say they won't sign anywhere else but the Los Angeles Lakers. And even then, they might just wait a year to see if we can still put on a better offer.

Yeah, I mean, Kawhi's camp was pretty much saying the same thing, but look what happened there.

Also, it really does seem that AD is truly thinking about winning and his legacy here, i.e. it's not a ploy to get into a bigger market or a way for AD to get back "home." He'd stay in Boston, as we give him the best chances, both short- and long-term, at a championship.

I think the ideal plan is for Al to opt out of his final year next year in favor of signing a longer-term deal at a lesser rate, something like 4 years of $18 - 20M or so. He'd be cooked by the end of that contract, but that'd allow him to make more money longer-term while also giving him the best chance of getting a championship before retiring.

I do say...a starting line up of Kyrie, Tatum, Hayward (with a full year under his belt), AD and Al would be ridiculous.

Bench would be pretty thin and they would have to sign some guys that are looking to take discounts to win...Assuming that Brown, Williams, Rozier and Smart are part of the deal.

Plus the picks would be gone

Pretty important: Woj on Sportscenter still says perception is that Boston’s package is the best, which indicates that Ingram’s value isn’t as high as probably should’ve been entering the year.
Ingram has been bad this season compared to expectations

Want to bet? Ainge will trade Kyrie in a heartbeat, if he can get Davis. Kyrie is overrated. Wings and bigs win championships, not point guards. If we get Davis for Kyrie, we have a young core that will be together for years.

Chris Mannix: There’s really only one reason for AD’s agent to go public with a trade demand this early—to give the Lakers a head start on trade talks before Boston can get into the mix this summer. Why else risk AD spending the next few months as the villain? –

Also Chris Mannix: It still makes zero sense for the Pelicans to seriously consider any offer until July. Boston is highly motivated to make a move for Davis. They have more appealing young players than the Lakers and a chest of picks (including a possible unprotected Grizz pick in 2021) to deal.

Check out the Laker fans on his tweet. :D

NOP wouldn’t want Kyrie, as he’d be gone by July 2nd.

So Ainge would have to send Kyrie elsewhere (either on a 3-team trade or a separate deal first).

Do you know what kind of fire Ainge would be playing with if he started calling other teams shopping Kyrie? Word would eventually get out, and you think he’s the type that will not have a problem with that come July?

So basically, if he starts making calls, he BETTER trade him. I don’t know who other than the Knicks would give up a lot for him (maybe the Nets?), and I don’t see what they have that we or NO would want. Maybe Russell and Dinwiddie for Kyrie... then Russell, Brown and filler plus a couple picks for Davis?

Kyrie and Brown for AD and Dinwiddie? Then you have to trust Rozier to handle PG duties for the foreseeable future (which wouldn’t be the worst thing with Hayward, Horford, Smart, and Davis all capable facilitators).

Yeah, any AD trade that doesn't have Ingram in it is a non-starter for NOLA. To even get NOLA thinking about not waiting until the offseason will likely take all three of Ball, Kuzma, and Ingram, plus likely other picks and/or prospects.

They would do that without thinking twice.

Don’t think that’s nearly enough though.
