Trade Irving then

Danny has no conscience

To NO: Irving, Morris, multiple 1sts
To Celtics: Davis
This makes no sense. They want to pair Kyrie and AD. Otherwise you haven’t accomplished anything.

Disagree

Last years unit plus Davis beats the Cavs and also gives GSW a run for its money

Having Davis and Irving but stripping the team elsewhere .... is still not good enough

Jrue Holiday may not be as good as scorer as Irving but still an All Star. And Pelicans have been struggling

Rather have last seasons unit plus Davis

Also consider that both Davis and Irving have been kind of injury prone

Why would New Orleans want Kyrie Irving without the assurance of him re-signing?

The only way we get AD is if the Pelicans are smart enough to wait on us to be able to trade for him.
I think the intent here is to get him to the Lakers.  Otherwise you don't announce your intentions now when the Celtics can't get involved till July 1.  I think this deal was put in motion the day Davis signed with Klutch.

I am pretty sure Davis wants to be in LA. If that is the case, I expect NO to cave to his trade demand.

That would leave Boston in a strange position. Adding at least 2 first round picks to an already young roster. Then you have the Grizz pick that they might want to parlay into this year giving Boston 3 first rounders in one draft. I do not see any other superstar out there to trade for.

Not too keen in adding more rookies to an already young and sometimes selfish roster.

The Pels would be idiots to make the deal now. NOBODY can offer what Boston can. But will the give into Davis and his requests? That is the big question.

If Lakers giveup Kuzma, Ingram, Hart

Then no Celts cant beat that

Unless Kyrie is offered bc Danny is not going to trade Tatum plus Brown

 ::)

Yes, they absolutely can beat that offer and could probably double that value if they wanted to, even without offering kyrie. You’re on one this morning, Triboy.

Huge news. And it begins.

I would assume New Orleans is willing to hold off on dealing him until the summer, in which case we are 100% in the game.

Disagree

Too risky for NO

He will be traded between now and trade deadline

Book it

Why would it be risky?

The number of offers increases in the offseason. If you are the Pelicans, the more bidders, the better.

Yeah, there’s zero risk for NO in waiting until the offseason. Waiting until Boston can enter the bidding is their best move

No risk, but better reward if they trade now.

Higher pick, more picks, ability to see who works and who doesnt moving forward.

Not a better reward.

We will have the best ofdee on the table. Waiting to trade AD in the summer helps them tank too. Trading AD now might land them pieces that makes their team mediocre enough to miss a top 5 pick. Now if they wait, and sit out Davis, they can tank.

Having davis does not make them in any way worse.

Not having davis makes them worse.

His camp will likely shut him down ala Kawhi.

LAkers can offer what Boston can.

less a few picks I suppose.

Kuzma, Ball, Ingram is as good a package as Brown and Tatum...honestly.

Yup. I’d do that trade in a heart beat if I were the Pelicans. It’s gotta be all 3 of those guys though.

doubt it...  Ball probably stays

Ingram, Kuzma, Hart, Zubac and a 1st next season

I wouldn't be surprised also if Holiday is traded.    With Randle, its like last seasons Lakers in a Pel team

The celts are going to get screwed by this rule.  Just not the same value to trade for a bunch of players (I.e., picks) than the picks themselves.

I mean, if the celts had far and away the best package then maybe the pelicans would wait.  But they don’t.  Ingram, ball, and kizma close to our best offer even if we include Tatum.

Sure, but do you think the Lakers would offer that if Boston isn't in the mix?

How can the NBA make a rule that Kyrie and AD can’t be on the same team this year, but allow the Warriors to start the Western Conference all stars? So annoying.

Someone who understands this all

why is it that the fakers could offer Ingram, Kuzma, Hart for Davis NOW

but Celts couldn't Brown and Rozier + Horford for example

why does it have to be Kyrie?

I would understand the logic a little better if Irving and Davis were going to be both UFAs after this season (and both walk), which would potentially screw a franchise for years to come.  But this is not the case.  Also by Davis joining Irving = unfair super team.....  then what is Davis joining Lebron?

How does the "chris paul" rule apply to the Celtics in this case?

Not that I'm advocating this trade but a 3-way would have to be worked out as Kyrie would never stay there. I don't even care to think of teams that could help facilitate such a trade.

Right.  Like Kyrie, Randle to NY, Porzingis, Brown (and Kanter for $$) to NO, AD, Ntilinka/Mudiay to BOS.

Obviously waiting is preferred so we can team up Kyrie and AD, but if NO gets aggressive and is signaling a trade before the deadline I'd trade Kyrie for AD.  AD is a more unique player and the only top 10 big guy to come available in the foreseeable future. Correct me if I am wrong and there is another young, dominant big man available.

Well, theoretically Boston is in the mix if they don’t offer their best package.  So if they’re willing to offer it later, then they’re willing to offer it now.

Double the value?  Come on.  The Celts have one blue chip prospect.  One.  And that’s Tatum of course.  Brown is meh.  Rozier is double meh.  And I don’t believe hordord and any other veteran has much value for the pelicans.  And the picks are mostly meh too.

You mean, the Rose rule?   Celtics have already traded for one player that was extended under the Rose rule.  Kyrie fits that criteria.

Yo TB,

Both Kyrie and Anthony Davis are currently signed to Designated Rookie extensions.

There is a clause in the CBA that a team cannot have 2 players of this extension type on the roster at the same time.

This summer Kyrie will opt out of his contract and no longer be on a Designated Rookie Extension.

Once that is complete we will be free to trade for AD with Kyrie still on the roster.

According to Woj, the Celtics can formally agree to a trade for AD that gets executed in June. Also, Pelicans prefer our package and don’t want to send AD to LA
