Anyone else visualizing the nightmare scenario:
Davies trades to lakers and in the summer kyrie signs with them too?
  :-\

It's not in Kyrie's personality.  He's not a Durant-type.

Well this is exactly what I didn’t want, but let’s see if Demps and ownership doesn’t panic and do something quick.

This has Rich Paul written all over it, trying to sneak him to the Lakers by the deadline.

I hope Ainge is on the horn this morning telling him what his offer is for July. As mentioned, if he sits out the rest of season Pels will get a better pick and set themselves up even further for the post-Davis era.

Tatum, Brown, picks (2019 and future), filler. That’s worth waiting a few months for, no?

I’ve seen people mention the Lakers young players and even a Simmons-based offer, but does anyone have the star-potential of Tatum? Who’s starting their team around PG’s like Simmons and Ball who have clear deficiencies? Kuzma is a nice little steal late in the first round but he’s not a guy you build around. Ingram vs Tatum? You see who’s already doing Gatorade and Nike commercials...

Tatum can be the face of a franchise, which isn’t that easy to find and may be difficult for NO to find in 10 days.

naw this has Lebron written all over it....from the start

I’m sure Danny has talked to New Orleans about dealing for Davis in the past. In addition, a player of Davis’ caliber is too big of a talent to be traded mid-season, especially with only 10 days or so notice before the deadline. Davis is the type of talent that gets traded in the off-season, when teams can more fully prepare for the ramifications of the impact he would have on an organization.

With that being said, I believe Danny will call New Orleans this week to touch base and explain that the Celtics are highly motivated to make a deal but they can’t make an offer until the off-season because of the Rose rule. Without naming specific players, for fear of the information leaking out, maybe Danny just says that none of their players or picks are off limits (with the obvious exception of Kyrie).

Yeah, I don't see him ever going back in Lebron's shadow.

According to Woj, the Celtics can formally agree to a trade for AD that gets executed in June. Also, Pelicans prefer our package and don’t want to send AD to LA

So people can stop freaking out here. It makes no sense for NOLA to try and rush a trade right now. It benefits them in almost every single regard to sit AD for the time being and wait until the summer to seriously consider the trade, all while working the phones for potential packages with both Boston and LA right now.

Then why does AD state this today/yesterday

why doesn't he just finish the season out then ask ??

AD wants to win a championship ASAP.  Starting now, not tomorrow

AD could also get injured... which would be a detriment for the Pelicans

Now if the Pelicans have someone in mind for the 2019 draft (top 5 pick)... then I can see them waiting. But what are the chances such a team will be a good team?

They'll wait.

One scenario discussed on Mike and Mike (err... Golic and Wingo) was what happens if the Knicks get the #1 pick?  Then you've got to think that a Porzingis + Zion package looks appealing, especially from a marketing standpoint.

It makes little sense to do a trade now.

You don't know what an early playoff exit will do to his thinking

he is considered as good as he is now, due to winning a ring and making the finals

otherwise he would be no different than Kemba Walker

I wouldn't be surprised one bit if the Lakers someone trade for Davis,  sign Irving , trade for Love and fire Walton/hire Lue

TP. This is exactly the reason they'll wait.

And I didn't realize that the trade deadline was that soon, too. Yeah, I think they can easily hold out a mere ten days and wait for the real bidding war to start this summer. It also benefits them to wait until the draft to see where everyone lands, too.

That brings up another good question - would the chase for AD then cause LA to sit Lebron the remainder of the season and try to get as high of a pick as possible for the package? I doubt they would do it, but there's some logic to it, as they're not going anywhere in the playoffs this year anyways and it would save some miles from Lebron moving forward.

The Pels would be idiots to make the deal now. NOBODY can offer what Boston can. But will the give into Davis and his requests? That is the big question.

If Lakers giveup Kuzma, Ingram, Hart

Then no Celts cant beat that

Unless Kyrie is offered bc Danny is not going to trade Tatum plus Brown

 ::)

Yes, they absolutely can beat that offer and could probably double that value if they wanted to, even without offering kyrie. You’re on one this morning, Triboy.

Yup!

Can we trade Triboy to a Pelicans forum for a forum member to be named later?

Because Davis is an MVP candidate, and he could lure Durant.

The Memphis 1st round pick alone is probably a better value asset than Lonzo Ball.

We can't beat that offer? You think that is better than Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Terry Rozier SnT, whoever we pick in the 2019 Draft using the Sacramento pick, Memphis 1st, Clippers 1st?

it is far fetched but possible

Davis asking for a trade all of a sudden though doesn't reflect that he want to wait it out

Pelicans of course could care less about this and just start planning their rebuild now

trade Holiday,  Randle  etc. and sit AD (for the excuse to try to facilitate trade)  to try to tank the season.    Then wait in the offseason to get the best return for Davis

Some of you folks are hilarious. Really? Brown's value has gone down, I'll admit, but folks also act like Lonzo and Ingram are super valuable when they clearly aren't. Even LAL fans could tell you that  ::)

If the Celtics want to compete right now with the Lakers for Davis, they will have to trade Kyrie in a package, then maybe trade back for him in his FA year.
