CONSPIRACY:

The 76ers want Josh Jackson, but so do the Lakers. If Jackson is not available, the Lakers will take Ball.

The 76ers want to jump LA because of the supposed Jackson promise, and Boston is comfortable moving down because Fultz will be there at 3. THEN, Magic leaks that Ball was underwhelming and that he (Magic) is "in love" with Fultz to deter Boston from trading down, becuase the Lakers really have their eye on Jackson.

Fultz wouldn't be in Philly then, silly. Fultz isn't dropping to 3, see, Boston is getting draft picks, sick.

So  putting all the rumors together:

Sixers:
Fultz>jackson>ball

Lakers
Fultz> ball> jackson

Celtics:
Jackson/isaac/tatum > fultz > ball
Or
Jackson/isaac/tatum = fultz = ball
Or
Trade targe > Jackson/isaac/tatum/fultz/ball

Lakers pick might not be worth squat. If Ainge does this deal it is because he wanted Jackson all along and is trying to get a bit more
Trading a potential superstar for a role player who can't shoot. Nice.
We do not know Jackson is a role player. Jackson has the potential to be great down the road.

The issue here is not Jackson, it's everything else in the deal. The 18 Lakers pick and 21 76ers picks might just not be that great.

Unless Ainge has trades ready to go for other star players in the works.

its 2 extra chances at picking a good player

NOBODY knows how good or bad the Lakers will be next year.  If Its guaranteed they will end up with one of the top 3 worst records you think the 76ers do this trade?

Its a risk either way...Danny is addicted to this  ;D
I think they probably would do the trade but without the extra Sixers pick.  Fultz appears to be a great fit with Simmons and Embiid.

I really hope none of these scenarios become real and that we keep Fultz.

Otherwise it would mean Danny was never interested in the #1 in itself all along but only in having it to hold the high hand in trades.

What's the point of (finally) getting the #1 pick only to throw it away for potential multiple #1 picks that could very well be worst? And Butler isn't the answer.

If Ainge makes a dumb lambasted move just for the sake of clearing cap space, and because he has an infatuation with Jackson, (who I think is overrated on this board,) then I'm going to start ending up in the Fire Ainge camp...
Basically how I feel. If you're trading down to 3 to get another 2 mil or so you can open up that cap in other ways. Like say draft fultz at 1 and then trade rozier or Demetrius jackson for late 1st or 2nd rounders to open up that 2 mil in cap as well as opening up a guard spot for fultz to take over because let's be honest fultz is probably already better than rozier and definitely better than d Jax. I don't think the drop off in talent  between fultz and j jackson is worth keeping rozier or d Jax.
everyone got so sensitive after 9-11... thanks alot bin laden

I thought the whole point of the Brooklyn picks was that one of them might be a #1. Now weve got one and ainge wants to trade it away for more "value" sickening...

Not sure how he could watch the eastern conference finals and nba finals and think we are a couple stars away from competing.

#1 nothing but a number

Anthony Bennett went #1

Steph Curry went 8th, Pierce went 10th

Yeah sure but Fultz and Bennett can't be compared.

Is there a reason we cant just draft Fultz and see who falls to 3 to protect ourselves? I bet Magic will spend the next week trying to figure out how he can screw over the Celtics one more time!

By the way, sick would not describe how I feel about what is being thrown out there. Any protection on the picks coming back would make zero sense to me. We hold the cards for the most valuable spot in the draft. No protections Danny....zip....in fact, we should have the choice after the Lakers spot next year to accept that or take the Kings pick in 19 as alternative. No chance I put any protection on any pick. We are in the 1 spot, there is zero guarantee we will see that spot again for another 4 decades.

The Lakers said that Fultz blew them away during the practice at their facility and despite saying he would not play 2 on 2, he did and brought the roof down in amazing. Is it only Danny who does not see a sure thing in the 1 spot or does he need to try and put his famous Red stamp on this move like when we traded the one so long ago and it worked out perfectly.

Woj: Discussions have centered on Sixers sending 2017 No. 3, 2018 Lakers pick, and possibly 2021 1st — including complicated protections

Complicated protections?
Forget that

Exactly. Grow a pair, Bryan. You're not getting #1 without an overpay.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

That deal makes me throw up! Words can't express how bad of a deal I think that is.

If we start the season with adding a wing that can't shoot and no big man added I'll be sick to my stomach! :'(

The main question that came to my mind was:

Why would the Cs prefer to trade the pick before or at the draft and not later?

Unusual BPA interpration? Another deal in place for the draft? Need for small cap relief from the 1st moment of free agency?

Can a pick have a protection like: it only goes to the Celtics if it is a top3 pick or something like that?
