A protected '18 Laker pick is useless. Ainge should be ran out of town on a rail if he does that deal.

We're trading an elite offensive player for another guy who can't shoot and a middling pick that will doubtlessly end up as another spare part on a team already full of spare, mismatched parts.

At times like this, I only wish I had a way to communicate to Danny Ainge my disdain for him.

I hate this, Danny don't overthink it. In my opinion, if you trade the first pick, you have to get a player back.

Why Ainge wants to trade the pick:

Doesn't think Fultz is a winner
Thinks Jackson or Tatum are 1A prospects, he must expect Lonzo to Lakers at 2
has an eye on someone in the 2018 draft
He knows Philly will take Fultz at 1
Frees up cap space for the Hayward FA run

or

Has a deal in place for Butler centered around the number 3 pick

If "the only goal in Boston is championships" as we here with this management team saying all the time, how can you not get a star back in return for the number one pick?
Nowhere near enough. Not by a long shot

Joel Embiid just tweeted a picture of Fultz name on a locker in the 76ers locker room.

This is just getting me more and more frustrated.

Danny is building a super team in our division........In Philly!

We should draft Fultz for this reason alone.

Protections aren't complicated unless both teams want them.  My guess is the 2021 Sixers would be something like top 10 protected and protected 21-30 as well.  I doubt the Lakers 2018 would have protection but if so I doubt it would be more than top 1.

This is not bad...plus what are chances lakers pick is #1 next season

But if they play well next season...this trade doesnt look as good

2021 76ers pick as top 5 protected and 20-30 protected works better

Lakers pick might not be worth squat. If Ainge does this deal it is because he wanted Jackson all along and is trying to get a bit more

I don't even like Jackson at 3. He is not worth taking there.
Only way I do this deal is if they get Jimmy Butler out of it.

A lot of Celtic fans were disappointed in the pierce/kg to nets deal when it happened. Let's wait and see what happens. Things take time to appear how Danny sees it

Then again this is a continuation of said deal. Would be crazy if Danny tries to extend out pierce and Kgs gifts for another decade by continuously trading down
They didn't trade a #1 pick for future picks then. They traded 2 washed up super stars for future lottery picks. Big difference.

Or he has a deal lined up for Butler with #3 pick.

If you trade the number 1 pick you are in win now mode.

Everyone is overlooking the fact that the number 3 pick could be part of a Butler package

I trust DA fully but it doesn't mean I have to like his choices. I'll always give him the benefit of doubt after he does something. I hate this choice though. My stomach is near my throat. When we trade fultz, give me a couple weeks to get over it! Do you Danny. :-*
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Absolutely terrible trade...

But I trust Ainge...

Sigh... Why am I so upset right now?  :'(

Didn't think it was possible to feel any worse about this rumor. And then this comes out.. IF you are gonna trade the 1st overall pick there needs to be no protections on any future picks or we need a star in return. We can't trust that the Sixers or Lakers will be bottom feeders next year or in future years just like we can't trust that the lottery gods will grace us again. To me this trade makes zero sense for us
everyone got so sensitive after 9-11... thanks alot bin laden

No we aren't. We wouldn't trade Fultz for Butler and picks in later years either. Even so, we STILL don't beat GSW.

If Ainge makes a dumb lambasted move just for the sake of clearing cap space, and because he has an infatuation with Jackson, (who I think is overrated on this board,) then I'm going to start ending up in the Fire Ainge camp...
