Lakers pick might not be worth squat. If Ainge does this deal it is because he wanted Jackson all along and is trying to get a bit more

Or he has a deal lined up for Butler with #3 pick.

If you trade the number 1 pick you are in win now mode.

Everyone is overlooking the fact that the number 3 pick could be part of a Butler package

I haven't forgotten but I'm not sure I want to give 3 and AB or Jae (more to match salaries) though! 3 alone is enough especially after Butler let AB put him in clamps and outplay him! FFS

I really like Butler as a player but I still think that's too much.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Protections aren't complicated unless both teams want them.  My guess is the 2021 Sixers would be something like top 10 protected and protected 21-30 as well.  I doubt the Lakers 2018 would have protection but if so I doubt it would be more than top 1.

This is not bad...plus what are chances lakers pick is #1 next season

But if they play well next season...this trade doesnt look as good

2021 76ers pick as top 5 protected and 20-30 protected works better
Assuming they finish bottom 5, odds would be 11.9 to 25 percent.  I think bottom 5 is very likely for the Lakers.

If Ainge makes a dumb lambasted move just for the sake of clearing cap space, and because he has an infatuation with Jackson, (who I think is overrated on this board,) then I'm going to start ending up in the Fire Ainge camp...

Of course...

The Lakers pick next year could easily be mid to late lottery. Have people already forgotten how badly they tanked this year? Take away the incentive to bench their better players and they're just a bad team not an awful team.

If Lakers pick isn't top 3-4, we should be able to swap it for 2019 Sacramento pick.

Personally I feel Lakers will vastly improve with Ball leading them. I don't trust that Laker pick.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
It sure will make for a more interesting draft now. I was hopeful Danny was going to tell Fultz you are my guy until you retire. All this noise will now hurt if we do pick him.  In my heart now I hope some blockbuster comes because of all this speculation. I like Tatum more than Jackson. Brown is like Jackson, IMO.  If we get the Lakers unprotected pick that would be cool. We could pick 1 and 2 next year.

i want to see the protection condition on that 2021 pick

I wonder if Danny wants the Cavs pick that 76ers own

Lakes pick likely in the 6-12 zone for next season.

Better be a part of a bigger deal to get Butler

We do not know Jackson is a role player. Jackson has the potential to be great down the road.

The issue here is not Jackson, it's everything else in the deal. The 18 Lakers pick and 21 76ers picks might just not be that great.

Unless Ainge has trades ready to go for other star players in the works.

CONSPIRACY:

The 76ers want Josh Jackson, but so do the Lakers. If Jackson is not available, the Lakers will take Ball.

The 76ers want to jump LA because of the supposed Jackson promise, and Boston is comfortable moving down because Fultz will be there at 3. THEN, Magic leaks that Ball was underwhelming and that he (Magic) is "in love" with Fultz to deter Boston from trading down, becuase the Lakers really have their eye on Jackson.

its 2 extra chances at picking a good player

NOBODY knows how good or bad the Lakers will be next year.  If Its guaranteed they will end up with one of the top 3 worst records you think the 76ers do this trade?

Its a risk either way...Danny is addicted to this  ;D
