Listening to SiriusXM this morning (Isola and Scal), they were both pretty convinced that Hayward re-signs with Utah.
Have to say, that was a bummer to hear.
I was hoping to sign him in the summer.
Don't need him, don't want him, don't really care about where he goes.
Use the cap space to make sure the team no longer gets embarrassed by just about everyone's third string center.
What are some realistic options to fill that role?
Paul Millsap, Zach Randolph, even Greg Monroe. Heck, if you feel adventurous, push in the chips for Blake Griffin, but don't get another SG/SF just because you can.
If you'd rather have Randolph or Monroe than Hayward then please PM your source. That's grade A stuff right there.
Yeah, I'm the type of guy who'd rather have a pair of Chuck Taylors than two right-foot Air Jordans. Sue me.
So starting Hayward, having Brown on the bench, and trading Crowder for a big doesn't work? I'd rather not sign anyone and have space for two max free agents next year then signing Milsap or Randolph. Really don't get the logic behind getting those bigs...They're old and will be overpaid.
Also, like my sig?
No, not really interested in trading Crowder. Not to mention that the type of big you can get at his salary slot will be rather uninspiring (hint: Tyler Zeller made $8 million last year). So if you're mortgaging the house to get Hayward, you're out of cap money and have no big except for Al Horford under contract.
Yes, I like your sig. 18 ppg say that Schroder acquitted himself nicely last season.
Why? His defense has been down this year and he's not better than Hayward. Crowder is an asset, and you can add other pieces to get a better player. You could actually even trade Crowder for your boy Monroe if you wanted...Would love if you provided insight on why you like or dislike players. And you're not mortgaging anything. What are you exactly morgating? It's just cash. And we still have our Brooklyn picks. What is your alternative? I mean this is kind of a bridge team if you're honest with yourself. No player out there is going to make us contenders to beat GS, unless you somehow get Davis. So again, not getting the logic.
I don't think Ainge has any interest in trading Crowder. Obviously Hayward is a better player, but I am not sure why people think ownership will be willing to pay the highest luxury tax bill in league history, which is what will happen if we trade Crowder and re-sign all of our upcoming free agents (IT, Smart, AB).
Ainge will absolutely go for Hayward or another max-level FA this season, but AB will likely on his way out the door, not Crowder. I guess it's also possible somebody blows away Ainge with a Smart deal.
