Interesting rule that I forgot about.  A position player assigned to the minors must stay there for 10 days but can be brought back for a double header.  So Seigler could be assigned to the minors on Thursday (replaced by Anthony), but brought back for the Yankees double header.  I am guessing this is what they do.  And then bring up Story on Sept 1 to start his "tryout".  IKF stays down unless someone gets hurt.  Probably add a pitcher as the 28th player.

Then you really don't have an issue until Mead is ready to come back.  When he is ready, he could be brought up with a pitcher who has options sent down.  That gets you to the playoffs.  Then they probably reduce by 1 pitcher and then can make Jones or White inactive without having to DFA them.

Good news on Mead.

Second baseman Curtis Mead, who fractured his wrist in his second plate appearance with the Red Sox, received positive news from the four-week follow-up imaging that he underwent Monday.

?He?s healed enough, progressing in the healing where they could take him out of the hard cast and put him in the splint,? interim manager Chad Tracy said before Boston?s game against the Marlins on Tuesday.

Unfortunately that's not possible. Rosters are now pretty strict about pitchers vs. position players, with half the roster spots going to each. So it has to be a position player that we send down to bring up Mead
