Huge win for PHX over the Rockets. While it does mean that the Mavs pick is unlikely to be in the lotto, it's still awesome. Most likely outcome now is that Pheonix and Brooklyn tie, but if anything the Suns have an easier schedule coming up especially considering that the Nets are resting Thad and Lopez. Phoenix has an away game vs the injury-battered Pelicans, a home game vs Sacramento, and a home game on the last game of the regular season vs LAC, where Doc may elect to rest his starters.

That's why I kinda wanted Houston to win, since PHO has opportunity to win in other games, esp the NOP game and the Nets may not win anymore. Houston meanwhile needs all the wins they can get.

 I wouldn't count the Nets completely out of their last 2 games - where teams might be resting for the playoffs. So, we need every Suns win we can get.

Biggest issue: When have the Nets ever done anything we thought they would do, at least this season? They win all the games we think they will lose, and vice versa. I wouldn't trade that Phoenix win for anything. Except a pony. Or a unicorn. Or a pony with a horn (which is different from a unicorn).

Seems like my lack of faith in Houston to win the games they should was justified.

on the plus side, Phx has now tied Brooklyn in the win column.  based on the rest of the schedule, I think the odds are Phx finishes with one more win than Brooklyn

PHX wins again, and the odds of Bkn getting the third-worst record cleanly are looking good. But this still isn't over: while PHX's remaining games are winnable (at home vs the Kings and vs the likely-resting Clippers), BKN also has some possible wins on their schedule at home vs the Wiz and vs the likely-resting Raptors.

This is great.  Our odds of a top 2 pick just went up.  Very cool. Maybe this will be the year we finally get lucky in the lottery.

I don't think there is any way Brooklyn wins a game without Lopez or Young against anyone.

hopefully, but the last week is silly season.

Might not matter anyways.  At this point it's up to the ping pong balls.

Awesome situation.   I'm pumped.  This summer might be special.

stop the presses!! LB and I in agreement?

for some reason I just have a gut feeling that no matter where Brooklyn's pick ends up pre-lottery, it ends up moving up on draft night.

We are kinda due to have some lotto luck.

LB if we do get that luck are you leaning Ingram or Simmons?

more than due.  C's have got to be the most snake-bitten team in the lottery

I have pretty much written off the Dallas pick, but technically, it's still possible that it ends up in the lottery. It would take two wins from Houston, two from Utah and two losses from Dallas.

Utah:
Hosts Dallas
@LA Lakers

Could win both.
Wild cards: On the second half of a BTB tonight. Kobe could go 47 for 53 with 112 points in his last game on Wednesday.

Houston:
@Minnesota
Hosts Sac

Could win both.
Wild cards: It's Houston. Their play this year has not been inspiring. Still, Harden looks like he could push them over the top singlehandedly. That guy wants it. Cousins will not play in the Sac game.

Dallas:
@Utah
Hosts San Antonio

Could lose both, but probably won't.
Wild cards: Also moving onto the second night of a BTB, but they might get some injured players back. Or Barea could still be out. That's why it's a wild card. That game against SA is the one that I am most nervous about. No way SA plays any of the starting five.

I still don't think that Dallas ends up in the lottery, but an objective look at the last couple of games means that I can't rule it out.

The good news is that we only need five games to go our way instead of six, since the Mavs-Jazz game counts doubly.  Spurs-Mavs is scary, but the Spurs bench is good too, that team is well-coached, and there's a definite in-state rivalry.  I think they'd get some extra pleasure eliminating the Mavs from the playoffs, in Dallas no less.

Odds are low, certainly no greater than 5%.  But crazier things have happened.

Good points all. +1.

Let's see how this thread looks tomorrow morning.

link to last year's draft pick tracker

Standings as of 4/12/16 -- will try to update weekly

Nets pick -- #3
              Games Behind    Current Wins     Games Left    Last 10
Phoenix              +1                        22                     1                 2-8
Brooklyn           --                        21                1                  1-9

--> very happy to see Brooklyn solely in 3rd with 1 game left.  I'll slit my wrists if I jinx this but the odds are pretty high that Brooklyn wins while Phx loses their last games.  looking like #3 is a lock pre-lotttery

Boston Pick #21 (tied with Charlotte)

            Games Behind    Current Wins     Games Left    Last 10
Atlanta              +1                     48                       1                 7-3
Miami                +.5                    47                       2                 6-4
Boston          ---                         47                   1                  6-4
Charlotte           even                  47                       1                6-4

--> C's had the chance to control their destiny in the standings this week and have done more to control their draft pick instead.  Atlanta and Charlotte both have very winnable final games.  C's really need cooperation from Miami in the standing to lose to Detroit tonight and come into Boston beat up from that game and play a tough 2nd night on a back-to-back.  Torn on how this will play out  Miami's veteran experience vs having 2 tough games on back to back nights on the road.  I have a sinking feeling that C's will be the 6th seed for the playoffs and have the #21 pick in the end.

Dallas Pick #16-- (protected if in top 7)

                Games Behind    Current Wins   Games Left   Last 10

Indiana               +1.5                       43                     2                 6-4
Detroit                +1.5                       43                     2                 7-3
===========Eastern Conference Playoff cutoff==============
Portland             +1                          43                      1                 7-3
Memphis            +.5                         42                      2                 2-8
Dallas               ----                     42                     1                  7-3

-->Sadly, Dallas has played strong down the stretch and fended off both Utah and Houston who are now fighting the the 8th see and cannot catch Dallas.  Unfortunately, it's still possible for Dallas to climb 4 slots in the draft since 4 teams are still within 1 win of them.  based on how things are going, I would not be surprised to see them climb from the 7th seed to the 6th with the way Memphis is going down the drain.  Shame on Utah and Houston for not taking care of business when they each played Dallas in the past week.  Now with Dallas and Memphis so close in the standings, it seems like the second rounder we get from one of them is now in question as to which team's pick we'll get.

Second Rounders:
Philly - #31
Minnesota (if 1st isn't conveyed) - #35
Dallas (better of Dallas or Memphis) - #46
Miami - #53
Cleveland - #58

2016
first rounders
Boston
Brooklyn
Dallas (protected 1-7)
Minnesota (protected 1-12)

Second rounders
Cleveland
Philly
Miami
Best of Dallas/Memphis
Minnesota (if 1st not conveyed)
