It's funny that the Nets pick winning the lotto and getting us Simmons + Dallas falling to 12 and getting us Skal is in play right now

What would you have given at the beginning of the year if somebody had told you that we would have more than an outside shot at those two come draft time? I'm thinking that this sums it up:

preseason - I would have said no way.  I thought the C's would just miss the playoffs and end up somewhere between 12-14, the Dallas pick around 8-10 and Brooklyn top 5.  Skal was projected to go top 5 with Simmons so impossible.

Now, I think it's possible solely because Skal's stock is dropping almost as fast as a Harrison twin from getting exposed in college ball.  If Skal was around with the 3rd first rounder, I'd be fine with Danny taking a chance on him but if that Dallas pick ends up in the lottery, I'd be looking for more of a sure thing rather than a high risk player.

The way things stand now, it is more likely than not that Brooklyn will finish, at best, with the 4th worst record and at worst with 5th. They are not jumping ahead of Phoenix and Minnesota is right on their heels. Here's to ping-pong balls bouncing our way.

They're only a game ahead of Phoenix and 3 behind Minny, with road games coming up at each.  Highly unlikely they end up 5th.  Odds are far better they end up 3rd than 5th.  4th probably the most likely outcome.

I wish I could share your optimism about jumping back into the 3rd spot. I just don't see it, especially after looking at the rest of the schedules for all three teams. Phoenix is just not going to win more than 3 more games the rest of the way.

Watching the Greek Freak up close and personal tonight it reminds me that Ingram is not the Greek Freak. While probably a better shooter than the Greek Freak he isnt the athlete that the Greek Freak is. Doesnt finish at the rim nearly as well doesnt have the same lift and isn't as fluid.

Is Ingram a finished product, no but other than both being really skinny to start their careers I dont see the similarities.

Someone help me out here.

I'd be fine with Ingram if he's a solid shooter at SF.  I'm watching the Freak and see a lot of athleticism which is swell but I'm not seeing the superstar some people proclaim him to be.  his shot isn't exactly a thing of beauty.

as for the pick, I think we're looking at fourth pre-lottery

I see a very good player in Ingram. Im saying people compare him to the Greek Freak but he cant finish near the rim anywhere close to his level. Thats all Im saying.

Brooklyn beating the Suns last night certainly changed the probable outcomes quite a bit.  My optimism is having a tough morning. :-\

Ability to finish at the rim is the big difference between Durant and Ingram as well.  Ingram just hasn't shown the explosiveness that Durant and GA have.  He's only 18, so maybe that improves.  I think he's a better prospect than GA though, but not at the Durant level.

on a positive note, it's been a while since the #4 seed has won the lottery so they're due   8)

Probability that Dallas slips out of the playoffs is on the rise.

Edit: how does auto correct turn Dallas into salad?

I dont care so much about winning the lotto as I am getting top 3. Thats more important to me. I havent seen enough of Bender to say top 4. This certainly isnt a 2 or 3 person draft but I want to maximize the high end talent that is available.

Hoping for some good juju.

We deserve some after our #2 became #5 in '07. Let's see the #4 become #1 this time to even it out!  ;)

I also am hopeful that the Dallas pick can be packaged with the Celts pick and early second rounders for some extra ping pong balls.  8)

If the Celtics pick is:

#1 - Ecstatic
#2 - Thrilled
#3 - Happy
#4 - Pleased
#5 - Content

After that... >:(

Yup, I've noticed that as well. The fact that Houston did not trade Howard helps, as does Utah and Portland playing better ball. Dallas is playing lottery teams the next few games so hopefully they drop a couple of them. After that, not many cupcakes.

You're auto-correct is dyslexic. Dalas = salad backwards.
