Nets only down by 2. I guess that explains the "don't pull the stars" policy.

Mike

To be clear, i was not advocating pulling them with 9 minutes left. However, against the Knicks they were in there down 24 with about 3 minutes left. I have seen Hollins do this numerous times.
Especially considering their age, it is down right dumb and begging for injuries.

Edit: They are now down 5  with 28 seconds left. Clippers do have some issues this year for sure. Wouldn't be surprised to see one or multiple of stephenson, smith and pierce traded in the next month.

I've wondered why Hollins is leaving them in there in blowouts.
Combine that with the atrocious minutes that his starters are playing and it makes you wonder if his job is safer with Lopez or Young missing as many games as possible.

In this game, Jordan was 12 pts/12 rebs for a +5.  Lopez was 14 pts/12 rebs but -14.  I wonder what happened there.

In terms of wearing out their players, the only one I would worry about is Lopez.  I don't think there is any reason to be careful with anyone else, or at least not any more than any team would take their starters out in a lost cause game.

Brooklyn hase actually played pretty good of late, especially Lopez and Young. One hase to give those guys some credit. They keep a lot of games close and there are stretches in nearly every game where they look like a decent team.
That being said,  look at their schedule for the next 13 games:
vs Orlando
vs Miami
@ Indiana
vs Minnesota
@Chicago
vs Dallas
vs Washington
@ Miami
@ Orlando
@Boston
vs Boston
@ OKC
@Cleveland

It is pretty hard and I would really be surprised if they win more then 4 of those games. That would put them at 11-25. When you think about the fact that Lopez and Young might not be able to play better then they already do their outlook for the rest of the season is pretty bleak.

forget all that, why in the hell are all of our games vs. them 2 b2b? dumb ass scheduling!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Pels gave Chicago a scare, but they just can't put together wins. C'mon NOLA.

I'm not sure how you can say that they are not at risk of running johnson and jack into the ground also.  It is pretty unusual to play a 35 year old guy 35 minutes a game and Johnson's numbers definitely show signs of him being pretty tired. Jarret Jack is also 32 and a guard that relies on quickness. Playing these guys 34 or 35 minutes a night is just not smart minute management.
The point is also that a normal team would take out their starters in situations that Hollins does not, even if you were to ignore their age. I watch all the warriors game they are never in with 2-3 minutes left in a 20+ point game. A lot of time they sit out the entire 4th. So a couple a guys in their mid 20's that actually have something to play for are having their minutes more carefully managed then guys in their mid 30's. Not really much of an argument to make here.

Yeah, they definitely blew a big opportunity tonight. I still think they'll end up quite ahead of Brooklyn by virtue of Davis alone.

I keep telling myself that to but problem is New Orleans looks flat out awful this year.

They've looked bad but the following guys have played less than 6 games for them this year:
Asik
Tyreke Evans
Jrue Holiday (has played 9 games but very limited minutes in 7 of those games).
Norris Cole

Having those guys back will give them another 10 wins at least.

There is really nothing to worry about unless David goes down.

The nets are  playing the veterans too much.. some injuries will occure... and even if they win 1/3 of their remaining games they are a  under 30w team

On track for 24 or 25 wins. Current win percentage is 30.45%
The next 14 games are going to be tough for them. If they continue at 30.45% they'll win 4 games of those 14 and end up being 11 wins and 26 losses.
That would assume they beat Orlando once, Minny, Dallas and beat us one of our pair of games for 4 wins. All those wins are home games (their best chance to win).

vs Orlando W
vs Miami L
@ Indiana L
vs Minnesota W (Minny plays us the following night at the Garden and the Nets play in Chicago B2B)
@Chicago L
vs Dallas W
vs Washington L
@ Miami L
@ Orlando L
@Boston L
vs Boston W
@ OKC
@Cleveland

If things go well for us they lose both games to us and win vs Dallas and Orlando at home.
Woohoo!

Woohoo!

I had them at 3-10, with the Dallas W being an L.

But I'd still rather that they lose to Orlando and Dallas. The Nets loss is more important to me than the Dallas loss.

A little confused about why you'd want them to lose to Orlando, though.

if we lose to the Nets again this season - i think i may injure myself mortally...
given the importance of each Nets W, a Celtics loss to these guys is horrific
