LOL @ Bogdonavic playing 36:48 minutes so far and Jack playing 32:46.  They can't keep this up

How old do you think Bog is?

Wow he's only 26?  I thought he was like 31 or something

LeBron looks 45 in the face .

Anyways I'm just amazed at Lopez ........when they were suppose to contend , the dude couldn't go five games without an injury .   The team never could really get any continuity .

Now the Nets suppose to suck and Lopez playing LeBron type minutes

If Lopez goes down for a stretch they are as good as locked in for 3 worst, I can't see Brooklyn catching Lakers or Philly as both seem to be close to putting the ball through their own basket to lose.

Also the further back Brooklyn get, the more disheartened this team will become as if they can't make the playoffs why would vets like Johnson and Jack give a crap about finishing the season off well.

What would be great is if they decided to get a 2nd round pick for Jarret Jack and whatever pick/expiring they could get for Johnson just to build assets while waiving the white flag.

Depends if Billy King is more concerned about the eternal embarrassment of giving the Celtics a top 3 pick or more concerned about the future of his job.

I hope Billy King is smart enough to realize that it doesn't matter what he wants. That pick is gone. Poof. Bye bye. He's going to be embarrassed whether it's the 1st or the 5th pick. Might as well start the rebuild now and trade for 2018 picks. You could trade players to a contender, knowing that nobody really knows who will be where in the standings by then.

I've really gotta stop reading this thread on a daily basis. On nights that they are, you know, good, I see them giving us a 6 or a 7 pick. On nights like last night, when they would have lost to the Washington Generals, I get my hopes up. I agree that they are the 3rd or 4th worst team, at best, so Simmons may not be in our future, but there are a couple of other options that look pretty good. Jaylen Brown looks like a good top-5 pick.

Denver has me nervous that they might start the tank this year and Sac is always a wild card, but most other teams look to at least be moving in the right direction.

Mike
Billy King is in the last year of his contract.  He needs to make some moves to start winning now.  He won't be around for a 2018 rebuild.

Considering that it would be Billy King making these 'win now' deals, I'm all for it. His win now deals have a perfect record of being disasters, a last ditch attempt at one this year would ensure us 3 top 4 picks in the next 3 drafts.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Heat up by 8 points in the 3rd vs Nets.

Pacers up by 10 points vs Mavs in the 3rd.

Minny getting stomped by New York down 20 points at half time.

2 outta 3 ain't bad.

Unless the Wolves go on a crazy winning streak, I think we are beginning to be better off rooting for them to lose so that we at least get high 2nd round picks (or at least one this year). I hate to be waiving the white flag on that one already, but they seem to be getting progressively worse, which isn't a good sign for a team of young studs and grizzled veterans - they are just at the wrong point in their development to make the playoffs.

Looks like we got a New Orleans win tonight, also. I'm not overly concerned about them as long as they stay healthy, but it's still nice to get one.

Is it too much to ask for the Lakers to go on a bit of a win streak?  Lol.  I've never rooted for Laker wins, but this season it just makes too much sense.  First, if they win enough they'll maybe pass Brooklyn.  Second, if they win enough, their pick will fall out of the top 3 and they will lose their draft pick to Philly.  That would be pretty funny.

They managed to beat the Bucks by 20 yesterday thanks to another efficient game from Kobe (he's looked much better lately) ... 22 points 6 assists, 3 rebounds in 7-15 shooting.  A fantastic performance from D'Angelo Russell (19 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds 3 steals) and a solid double-double from Randle (14 points and 14 boards).   Hopefully they get some rhythm going in spite of Byron Scott.

I think the Lakers are actually a darkhorse candidate for a strong second half of the season. It took them a while to get used to a player who has no place taking 15 shots a game indeed taking 15+ shots a game. They have a bit more of an identity with Russell and Randle coming off the bench. It was a blatant tank move, disguising a clear effort to lose with Kobe's goodbye tour, but it actually may end up improving the Lakers if Kobe can continue to be at least halfway decent. They have some legitimate contributors in Lou Will, Bass, Hibbert, Kobe and Nick Young, as well as good young talent in Russell, Clarkson and Randle. Brad Stevens could probably get them to 38 wins.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

The problem is that their coach has likely been told to lose as many games as possible. It's a tank from the front office down to the sidelines and Scott has the green light.
Their own fanbase is certain there's a front office tank going on....
Thats why I'm not as confident in them making any runs.
That potential 76ers pick from the Lakers is something they are desperate to keep.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

If you watch some Lakers ball.  It is obvious in a lot of the choices they make whom and when they play winning really doesn't matter.   Players set up to loose.

They are playing against the opponent and their own coach .  Hard to overcome and must demoralizing.

Scott doesn't try and help the team win.    He mostly make totally backwards coaching choices to tank the team.....really nobody could be that bad at this level.

Players are trying to win .  Kobe half hearted , he knows the FO is tanking.

It really is a shame that professional teams throw away whole seasons in the name of trying to lose on purpose.

Something should be done so there is no incentive to throw away whole season of basketball on purpose .

One thing to consider about the Lakers record and the possibility of the Nets having a worse record than them is the unusual amount of road games vs home games they've played so far.

To compare:

Current record
Nets 7-18
Lakers 4-21

Home games played
Nets 13 (6-7)
Lakers 8 (2-6)

Road games played
Nets 12 (1-11)
Lakers 17 (2-15)

It is amazing how this board moves back in forth from "they are not that bad" to "maybe the lakers can pass them".
