There's room for the whole spectrum of opinions here, and I think what should also be accounted for is that opinions change! As we see more of Brooklyn people will shift their outlooks and a lot of that will be due to that person's prevailing instincts whether it be cautiousness or excitement!
Regression to the mean applies to opinions, as well.

So here's one thing I've been thinking about. We've all been concentrating on what number pick we end up with, and I think part of the reason was that the 2016 draft had previously been viewed as a weak one, minus Ben Simmons. But it appears that there are a few legitimate players this year past Simmons and Skal. In other words, a top-5 pick would get you a decent shot at an above-average player, not just top-2. That gives us a little breathing room.
Simmons is clearly at the top of the class, but he's no longer the
only player. And it's not impossible to come up with a situation where Skal falls to 4 or 5. Let's say that LA, Philly and, oh, I dunno, Sacramento end up at the top 3. If LA is #1, they take Simmons. Philly and Sacramento (assuming Cousins is still around) have other needs. Then there's the ultimate dream scenario, where we have #1, followed by Phi/Sac/Phi. Skal falls but, at that point, does it matter?
