LOL I remember the days when people overreacted to the rookie years of Tyreke Evans and Brandon Jennings, saying they were future MVPs. Rookie year doesn't mean anything. It's all about year to year improvement.

i remember over reacting going back waaaaay farther than that!

At this point, EP does look like a better player, but that said, i wouldn't trade Smart for him. Players aren't finished products halfway through the season. I mean, if you looked at the first half of the season only, you'd probably be calling Wiggins an 'alright' player and judging by how some of the responses have been, i feel as if many of you wouldn't have traded Smart for Wiggins earlier on.

I feel like in a few years, Smart would be playing at a higher level than EP. I'm hoping Smart turns it around post-ASG actually, although it's seeming unlikely.

Peyton is more well-rounded at this point.  Smart has elite defensive impact.  They'll wind up being completely different players, but they should both have long careers.  Smart's our guy though.

19 points 8-15, 8 assists, 4 rebounds, 3 steals

in a blowout , but again this kid is good. It's me more about liking him rather then me trashing smart right now.

Elfird is very comparable to Rondo's game, but Elfrid can finish much better, and is 6'4.

People need to have loyalty. Smart is a great defender. Keep Smart, he has better hair.

who cares about the numbers of Payton - with his haircut he clearly doesnt belong in the NBA

you all should accept that cause its me telling you - I'm not just violent & might hurt you but I'm also very wise  ;D

(who is that guy anyways - he is not playing for the C's - he could be posting 100ppg for all I care as long as he doesnt against the C's - he just wasnt drafted by Ainge for a reason - at the day he if is owning Smart with his drives he will get my attention. Its not like Smart will alow too many of those and if he gets past him there is allways Oly waiting to commit the foul.)

Smart can drive but many think that he is still comming back from his injuries. Yes he has blocked often before he got injured - I have seen that but that was so early in the season and maybe just maybe he wasnt ready for the NBA bigs at that point. Right now he shows what you expect from a guy with the desire to win games. He doesnt become a volume shooter and he doesnt try stuff he knows he isnt doing the team a favour with. He is the backup PG right now. His role on the team right now is not to lead in scoring - even on the bench there are guys who can do things on offence so there isnt a burdon on him to do so. He can concentrate on the things he does  well. If you look at his stats you see that he doesnt commit many turnovers, he shoots a good enough 3 even in key moments, he passes better as the other guards on the team and drives opposing players insane with his D. All the other guys fail regulary on something (Turner, Zeller, Bradley on passing, Oly, Sully, Thornton on D). Bass alone next to Smart plays rock solid by sticking to his stenghts (ok, ok he made 2 3s this year I know but its not proofing me wrong). Scoring isnt the issue atm. If the other players could just fix the bad part of their games we would win a ton of games all of the sudden. We normally don't lose on the offence end (as long as we stay away from 3-P-land). Smart is doing all the things most of the other guys don't really shine in thats what I want of the bench. I need a 3 late - I bring Smart - he can make em - my team struggels on D - again I bring Smart. He has a role right now - BS doesnt bring him off the bench to score in bunches, its just not his role. He isnt even automaticly manning the PG position when he comes in. He has to play SG too. Again he gets inserted not to score in bunches at that position eighter. If BS wanted that he could bring Thornton instead.

If you keep that in mind you will find it hard to compare Smart to a pg that has a starting spot.

Smart will not put on that PG spot as long as his ability to get inside does not improof because if Smart and Bradley play alongside you end up without a guy who is trying to get inside. That would hurt the offence as a whole so BS sticks to Turner, dispite his bad passing and weak D.

He made one lucky 3 pointer vs the Pelicans and now you bring him in for big 3's?

That is all he takes anyway.

I like Smart, but he has to show me some other offense.

sad thing your memory doesnt reach further back - he made more 4th quater 3's than that one ;) ohh and he hasat least another 2 4th quater 3s today :D (4of6 from 3 isnt too shaby)

there is no doubt by anyone that he has to improof on getting inside - sometimes I wish he was doining it just to show me why he hardly is doing it all.

Last year, when the draft was days away, and everyone was talking about the possibly of the Celtics drafting Smart, and him being the possible replacement for Rondo, I wasn't real sure Smart was a future PG. (Still not sure)

The guy I was begging them to look at was Elfrid Peyton, he's a PG... and with good size. If Danny was sure he was trading Rondo at that time, He should have taken a hard look at Peyton.

Payton played a handful more college games being drafted as junior and not getting suspended. I think their games will develope at a different pace, pass first pg's games transfer right away, as we'll see Smarts defense right away, but it might take time for him getting used to Brads offensive seems. smarts not even getting many fg attempts, it's not like he's a checker missing all these shots. I honestly believe when Smart gets more comfortable  and is looked at as a leader he'll get more fg attempts and come around similar to Lowrey or Connelly on the offensive end.

I like Peyton, but he has to show me he can score when he's more than 3 feet from the basket.
