Lol why? He's a point guard....he can pass better than smart and drive better...the are obvious...all smart does is shoot 3s and your tEllington me you want to see if elfrid can do that?

Smart already is a better defender.  He can body up power forwards for ****!

Smart is a much better defender and range shooter and once he gets more comfortable he will be obviously better.  Also Smart is 40 pounds heavier and I'm not sure who is faster of the two.

Neither guy has played meaningful NBA games yet but I'm happy with our pick he's fitting into the system moving the ball and I trust him when he's out there.  That says a lot for a rookie kid.

Put it this way... if they play head-to-head, who wins the matchup?  Tough to say.  Smart has the unique ability to make people look bad with his defense.  Peyton puts up better box scores.  Smart has  just as much impact, and he showed it again today against the Clippers.

more excuses. Puts up better box scores? That is an excuse.

Smart is a very good defender. Payton is a very good drive to the hold guy and passer.

Payton will get better, Smart will get better.

I just like Payton's game and his size.

They are literally the same exact height.  Why would you want someone skinnier who isn't notably quicker?

Smart actually has a superior wing span.

Now THAT sounds like an excuse.  You're not comparing but read the title of the post.

Yea read it.....If I had the chance to trade Smart for Elfrid I would because I like Elfrid as a player more. Nothing more, nothing less. I did not say definently who will be better or who wont be...they both could be good players.

I just like Payton's game more and I think I would put my stock in him rather than Marcus.

We will see.

celtics 2030, something that you fail to mention is that Payton has played the PG spot his entire life, while Smart played it about 50% of the time at Oklahoma St. That's huge! PG is the most difficult position to learn, especially at the NBA level. That said, it's obvious that Smart would have a greater learning curve. However, he remains the player with the much greater upside.

BTW...not sure you're the supposed fan of his you claim to be since you repeatedly misspelled his last name, including in the thread title, and only began to spell it correctly after a few pages of continuos blunders.

19 points 8-15, 8 assists, 4 rebounds, 3 steals

in a blowout , but again this kid is good. It's me more about liking him rather then me trashing smart right now.

Elfird is very comparable to Rondo's game, but Elfrid can finish much better, and is 6'4.

Payton posts better stats because Elfrid always has the ball in his hands, smart doesn't have as good of stats but he does make a big impact when hes on the floor
I think both are going to become very good players but I would not trade smart for payton
Warning: I am a Marucs Smart homer

Again its not primarily about the stat totals.

How many three pointers does Marcus shoot, all his shots are basically three pointers. You can almost bet 75% of his shots will be three pointers, and the percentage seems like its closer to 90%.

I just pointed out stats so people can take a look....

Its more about what Elfrid does....he can drive and dish, and he can finish at the rim...he has great quickness , very good mobility, he can get to the line, and he is a very very good floor leader.

He just cannnot shoot at the moment, but he was just as good and even better than Smart at the college level in terms of shooting.

You cannot prove me wrong, everyone is trying to fire back with "well Marcus is better, Marcus this , Elfird is not"

Its about opinion and figuring out who's game you like more. I think Elfrid is better, most do not..no matter what he is on the team, and like the guy said, its not changing. Smart is not a bust so he can get better.

I just would take Elfrid over him.

You just supported my argument, so I do not know where your going with this. Elfrid is the better point guard and passer. Thanks.

Nice potential rivalry here...

I like Smart better but Elfrid is good.
