Marcus Smart shot 7 shots today

6 of those shots were three pointers

he took 2 two point shots

One was on a steal where he thought he had a layup and it got blasted by Kent Bazemore.

The other he got scared of Antic and lost the ball

But hey he did have some great steals, and one very good rebound when the Celtics were down by 18

People have to be getting tired of his 3 point shooting

His shooting has gotten better , but all he is doing is shooting three pointers

is he going to turn into Nate Robinson? He will not last long if that's all he can try to do.

Yea you're right Elfrid Payton has a flawless game every night on a championship caliber team.

I don't care if Payton goes 1-8 from the field with 6 turnovers

I am not looking at stats, im looking at what he can do , driving, passing,

hes going to have bad games, so is smart

but look at today as an example of how im trying to explain this to you people.....

Elfrid's game tonight in the 4th, check it out , its vs one of the best teams in the west...

then you look at smart, 7 shots, 6 three pointers, no penetration, no great point guard skills

its about the type of player they are.

And if anyone on here was assessing the quality of players on a one night basis we could wait until the opposite happens and do exactly what you are right now.

You will never get it because your keep thinking its about one night.

Its good to have a night like this for Payton because it shows exactly the things that he can do and that Marcus seems not to be able to do.

It's one game. I am not dumb.

But if you have league pass, watch that last quarter vs the Houston Rockets, watch his play , if you have a basektball mind you will see things he does that are very very good.

Your post is ridiculous.

Yes I rather listen to scouts

not some guy like you who says Marcus Smart has  "SOUL" lol

and also saying that Ray , Pierce, Garnett, learned that later in their careers...3 HOF players your talking about

your delusional. You have to be.

First off, Im not sure if you can interpret words successfully. So you should re read my post. Im just saying that what scouts say about a guy in his current state is not all he will ever become. I don't think i need to quantify that. I'm almost sure that, if you follow sports, you are familiar with plenty of examples.

Secondly, how many championships/playoff series did any of those guys win before coming here? I can count on one hand, the same hand would have zero rings on it.

Your saying something so simple, their is no reason to even talk about it. Of course players can change or players can do different things.

If you read my point, its about what type of players they are, the scouts do a good job because they follow these guys more than we do.

So you read the reports, watch some highlights, you put aside that they can score points because it means nothing until they can do it in the nba

but what you do watch is their physical abilities as well as mental IQ ,

driving to the basket, knowing when to pass, penetration , decision making, mobility , handling the ball, finishing at the rim

That is how you can start making essesmenets, and Elfrid has been really impressive, and if you watch the 4th quarter of tonight's game you can see an example..

I never said he will be better, or that Smart won't change his game, but I am saying purely as who I would chose and why,,, and that is Elfrid.

If Smart can change into a pure point with great decision making than I might give a shot to smart to play starting point

but their is noooooo wayyyyyy, I would start Smart over Elfrid at the point guard position.

I wasn't rebutting anything you said. I was reacting to something a bitter man said.

And i respect that you would choose Payton. I wouldn't. Either way, neither of them is winning a championship this year. And if you look at past champions, i see something that they all posses that Marcus Smart also possess. I don't see it in Payton. But in all honesty i haven't seen as much of him so like i said above i could certainly be wrong.

But I'm not  ;)

I am fine with that.

Although you gotta give me something more than just "soul"

Elfrid displays the ability to get to the basket, get around bigger players.....he makes fantastic passes, he has a great point guard mind already...

Marcus Smart just seems to me like a guy trying to play point guard, but cannot seem to stop himself from shooting ridiculous three pointers.

It will start getting old , trust me.
Elfrid, is that you?

Marcus Smart ,
5 points , 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 1-4 , 1-3 from 3 Point Line , 2-2 from Free Throw

Elfrid Payton
22 Points, 4 rebounds, 12 assists, 9-16, 0-1 from 3 Point Lines, 4-5 from Free Throw

Besides tooting my own horn over one game

Marcus Smart again only shooting 3 pointers, while Elfrid Payton getting to the paint, creating and 1's, 10 points in the 4th quarter tonight, 2nd straight night with 10+ in the 4th

Can we believe that Marcus Smart can do anything on offense besides shoot 3 pointers?

Sooooo tired of a player who makes contributions that just don't show up in the box score at all.

He actually fills up the stat sheet just a limited role.    His scoring comes he's suddenly a top tier pg.

Does it even matter who the defender is when they go off?

Don't pretend like Smart hasn't had good games too.

I can tell this is going to be another Giannis vs KO type debate. Any time the player you root for has a good game, you are always loud but are silent when the opposite happens.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

How many busts must we go through to hear that same excuse lol. Filling up the box score.

Who does not fill up the box score on a crappy team?

Can we talk about what he cannot do so far?

Is it too hard to get past all the "hes got heart" bullcrap.

Smart can have 28 points on 8-14 shooting

but if he was 7-13 shooting 3 pointers, i still would not be impressed.

You have to make 2 pointers to score

unless you want him to be the channing frye of point guards.
