He actually fills up the stat sheet just a limited role.    His scoring comes he's suddenly a top tier pg.

How many busts must we go through to hear that same excuse lol. Filling up the box score.

Who does not fill up the box score on a crappy team?

Can we talk about what he cannot do so far?

Is it too hard to get past all the "hes got heart" bullcrap.

I think its more that he's getting the stats like rebounds, assists, steals.  He's hitting the 3 at a good percentage and shooting good percentages overall.  He's also not turning the ball over much.   He's really not being aggressive right now with his scoring.

I don't think it's the same excuses.  It's just true. Jeff Green was a good player.  So was Rondo.  Green had 21 for Memphis tonight.  There is no excuse there.  Jeff Green is good.

So is Marcus Smart.  His role is a bit limited right now though.  He is contributing in small areas.  Got burnt once there on some bad defense. I think people do overrate him a bit but he's going to be a good player.

Marcus Smart ,
5 points , 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 1-4 , 1-3 from 3 Point Line , 2-2 from Free Throw

Elfrid Payton
22 Points, 4 rebounds, 12 assists, 9-16, 0-1 from 3 Point Lines, 4-5 from Free Throw

Besides tooting my own horn over one game

Marcus Smart again only shooting 3 pointers, while Elfrid Payton getting to the paint, creating and 1's, 10 points in the 4th quarter tonight, 2nd straight night with 10+ in the 4th

Can we believe that Marcus Smart can do anything on offense besides shoot 3 pointers?

Does it even matter who the defender is when they go off?

Don't pretend like Smart hasn't had good games too.

I can tell this is going to be another Giannis vs KO type debate. Any time the player you root for has a good game, you are always loud but are silent when the opposite happens.

Excuses, but i expect it from you.
you are still insulting people instead of engaging them in intelligent discourse, debate, and disagreements. why? it adds nothing to your arguments or people's opinions of you if you consistently resort to insults. it demeans everyone, including you, and turns people against you.

you need to try to be better than this.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I'm glad you expect that from me. Next time, try telling me why I'm wrong.

Pretend lol. Why pretend, I want Smart to be something that I don't think he can be. Im a basketball fan too, I watch lots of teams...Payton does things that Smart cannot do.

These games are not to gloat, but it's good because you can see what Elfrid can do. So it helps my cause.

These games do not mean much to me other than the point of seeing the skillset.

How many more games do I have to watch Marcus Smart shooting 90% of his shots from 23 feet and beyond?

It is not insulting......when Insulted someone I realized it is mistake. I will not do that again.

All I did was respond with something i felt at the moment.

Someone told me that im pretending that Smart does not have good games. That to me is an insult if anything. After all we are talking about basketball so please respect that I do not talk out of my backside about certain things.

I still think when people would trade so and so halfway through their rookie year for so and so that's pretty silly.  You traded me smart though so I'm happy. Still like burke though too.  Knew he would turn it up the minute I traded him.

Either you are pretending or you are choosing not to comment on them. Where are those vs stats like you were so quick to put up tonight?

I truly don't like when people like you, like the players that I do. Souring the experience. I will continue to like Peyton and ignore people like you.

2014-2015 Stats:

Smart: 6.5 ppg, 2.8 apg, 2.3 rpg, 1.1 spg, 1.3 topg, 3p% .349, fg% .394, 21.4 mpg

Payton: 7.0 ppg, 5.3 apg, 3.6 rpg, 1.4 spg, 2.3 topg, 3p% .211, fg% .400, 26.4 mpg

In five more minutes per game and a much more prominent role on the team, Payton is hardly doing anything more than Smart.

Sounds like two good rookies to me. I like them both. Can't wait to see them grow. I like a few of the rookies from this season.

Why can none of you break down players.....it is either stats, or an excuse....that is all with you guys.

And even when I try to explain reasoning, it goes back to stats and excuses.

You obviously love stats yourself, your post started the conversation. Hahaha you are so funny.

I watch both players play, I don't need a stat to tell me that both are good rookies. I haven't posted a stat yet.

I watch a few guys from this draft a lot of them are solid. So far they aren't as great out of the gate as people said they would be but a lot of them are solid and go unnoticed.

Why is it impossible for you to get over your Smart bias?

Honestly, I don't even know what you're arguing anymore. You change your argument's direction every time evidence is shown to disprove your argument.

You don't like Smart because he's been shooting alot of threes? Well, it's funny that you want to look at his small sample size in the NBA, but you neglect to look at two years of college evidence that doesn't support your argument. It seems obvious that Stevens is having these guys work on their shots, because wins don't mean anything this year. Geeeeezzzeeeeee.

LOL more excuses!

Nobody has yet to disprove my argument, because nobody will admit anything in here. It is all excuses.

I've done nothing but tell you the truth.

Smart shoots three pointers not because the coach tells him too, its because he cannot drive or finish, he does not have the best athleticism......hes a hustle player, but everytime he even tries to the hold the ball ends up in the 4th row stands.
